Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams to star in ‘Yellowstone’ spin-off series, ‘The Madison’

Three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer will star in and executive produce the “Yellowstone” spinoff series titled “The Madison.”  Additionally, Patrick J. Adams has joined the cast, with Deadline reporting that Adams (best known for playing Mike Ross on Suits) will star in the upcoming series from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Elle Chapman (A Man Called Otto) and Beau Garrett (Firefly Lane) have joined the cast of The Madison.

Paramount shared in a press release: “The series is a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” The Sheridan-created show was previously announced under the title 2024.

Pfeiffer will portray the mother of Paige McIntosh (Chapman) and Abigail (Garrett), “a resilient and sardonic New Yorker, who is a recently divorced mother of two,” while Adams will play Russell McIntosh, the investment banker husband of Chapman’s Paige, a “somewhat self-centered woman who indulges in a luxurious New York lifestyle” provided by her parents and husband.

Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement regarding Pfeiffer’s casting: “Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace. She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.”

The Madison joins “Yellowstone” spinoffs “1883” and “1923”, with more spin-off series set in the ‘Yellowstone’ universe said to be in development.

Jane’s Addiction shares apology after on-stage brawl, cancels show

Jane’s Addiction have shared a public apology after an onstage scuffle ended their show early in Boston on Friday. According to reports, singer Perry Farrell, 65, was reportedly upset about the stage volume his bandmates were playing at during recent concerts, and shoved — and then punched — guitarist Dave Navarro, 57.  Perry was immediately restrained and dragged offstage by bassist Eric Avery and crew members, with the incident bringing an early end to the show. Attendees at the show shared footage of the incident on social media. which appeared to show Farrell shoving Navarro while the band was performing their song “Ocean Size.”

A brief statement on the band’s Instagram Story read: “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night. As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow [September 15] night’s show in Bridgeport. Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase, or if you purchased via a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek etc) reach out to them directly.”

Jane’s Addiction was scheduled to perform Sunday night at the Hartford Healthcare Amphiteatre in Bridgeport, Connecticut; their next scheduled show is set for Sept. 18 at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto.

Farrell’s wife Etty issued her own statement on social media, detailed her ‘first-person account’ of the incident. Etty stated that her husband had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat due to the band’s high stage volume, and went on to suggest that Avery took some cheap shots at the singer while he was being restrained.

The original Jane’s Addiction lineup — Perry, Navarro, Avery and Stephen Perkins — returned for the 2024 reunion tour, which is set to conclude on Oct. 16 in their hometown of Los Angeles.

Harvey Weinstein indicted on new charges in New York after conviction was overturned

Prosecutors said in a New York courtroom on Thursday that disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been indicted by a new grand jury on additional charges.

Prosecutor Nicole Blumberg said that the new indictment is under seal. Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg said: “We informed the defense just prior to being present in court this morning … the grand jury has indicted Mr. Weinstein.” Weinstein, 72, was not in court as he is recuperating after emergency heart surgery days ago, and did not receive medical clearance to attend.   Weinstein’s attorney Arthur Aidala told Deadline there may be three new criminal complaints against his client from 2005, 2006 and 2016 based on what prosecutors have told him, but he did not have details.

Judge Curtis Farber has set a trial date for Nov. 12; and ordered the city corrections department to house Weinstein in the Bellevue Hospital prison ward, if medically necessary, stating: “Inattention at Rikers carries very real risks. He could find himself again in crisis.” Weinstein had been in custody at the Rikers Island prison complex while awaiting retrial.

NBC News reported earlier this month that a grand jury had been convened to hear from women who had come forward with new accusations against Weinstein.  More than 80 women have accused the former producer of sexual assault or harassment; Weinstein has repeatedly and vehemently denied those claims, insisting the encounters in question were consensual.

Weinstein was convicted in 2020 of third-degree rape of one woman and first-degree criminal sex act against another woman after a trial in New York and sentenced to 23 years in prison. However, that conviction was overturned in April after a state appellate court determined the judge had erred by allowing women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case.

Weinstein was also found guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault in a 2022 trial in Los Angeles, where he was sentenced to 16 years. Weinstein’s legal team is in the process of appealing that conviction.

Ex-Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler launches new band SHALLOW RISING

Former Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler has launched a new band called Shallow Rising, featuring vocalist Alex Villarreal, guitarist Tim Ossenfort, bassist Taylor Brandt, and keyboardist Tim King.

Adler recently spoke with The Liquid Conversations podcast about forming the new band: “It’s been an interesting process to not only remove myself from those bands that I felt were amazing and I loved everything about doing them, but it was, in the end, pretty unhealthy.” Adler doesn’t specify which bands he’s talking about, but he’s really only been in three for the past decade or so – Lamb Of God, Nitro from 2016 to 2018, and Firstborne. Well, it’s been an interesting process to not only remove myself from those bands that I felt were amazing and I loved everything about doing them, but it was, in the end, pretty unhealthy. So getting myself out of that, and I had this really strange random opportunity to do a project in Nashville, just like as a session player.

“And so I go there, as most guys do as session players, you just show up and do what you’re supposed to do. And I met Tim Ossenfort, and he and I just got along, like, we just vibed correct. There was something about the wavelengths of friendship that made sense, and we’ve kept in touch since. He reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, I got this thing going on with a bunch of dudes, and I’d love to have you involved. Let’s go to L.A. and record some drums.’

“So I go to L.A., and in my mind, it’s like, ‘Well, clearly they want death metal drums. I guess that’s what I’m supposed to be doing.’ So I go there and he’s playing me the tracks and I go in and record ’em, and then we get to, like, song three, and I’m, like, ‘This is not really death metal. This is like — I don’t want to call it ‘friendly,’ but it’s a different animal than what I thought I was hired to do. So we kind of changed, or at least in my mind, changed the perspective and just talked about it for a good while and kind of made it into something that I think is wildly different than what I’ve ever done and really special. It is something that has a lot of heart… It has all the elements of all that we love about metal, but it also really carries like a positive message and a lot of love, which is something clearly I’ve been missing for a long time. So it’s been a real pleasure to not only find the friendship with Tim, but to do something a little bit outside of what is expected.”

Check out the lyric video for the band’s new single, ‘Further’ – HERE. The band’s second single ‘Remorse Code’ arrived alongside an official music video – HERE.
