Carey will be honored at the 35th annual Person of the Year benefit gala held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday, January 30, 2026 — two nights before the 2026 Grammy Awards, which is held at Crypto.com Arena.

The recognition comes shortly after the release of Carey’s latest studio album, “Here for It All,” which marked her first new full-length project in seven years.

MusiCares, the non-profit organization established in 1989 and incorporated in 1993 by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, is dedicated to supporting music professionals in need of financial, medical, or personal assistance. Carey is being honored for her extensive philanthropic work and commitment to uplifting underrepresented communities. Carey has provided aid to those affected by crises such as Hurricane Katrina and the COVID-19 pandemic, and she founded Camp Mariah to empower underserved youth while promoting education, health, and social advancement.

Theresa Wolters, MusiCares’ executive director, praised Carey’s impact, saying, “Mariah Carey’s influence extends far beyond her remarkable artistry. We look forward to celebrating her remarkable career on this very special night.”

Carey joins a distinguished list of MusiCares honorees, including the Grateful Dead, Jon Bon Jovi, Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson, and Joni Mitchell.

John Krasinski returning to direct/write/produce ‘A Quiet Place Part III’

John Krasinski is returning as writer, director and producer of A Quiet Place Part III, which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.

Krasinski announced on social media that he will take the helm of the next installment in the series; no cast or plot details have been shared.

Krasinski wrote, directed, produced and stared in the first film in the franchise, which also featured his wife, Emily Blunt, as well as Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds. The A Quiet Place franchise has grossed over $900 million worldwide across its three films — which is comprised of John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, as well as the Michael Sarnoski-directed spinoff prequel film, A Quiet Place: Day One.

The first film introduced the Abbott family, which included Lee Abbott (Krasinski), his pregnant wife Evelyn (Emily Blunt), deaf daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds), and young son Marcus (Noah Jupe), who have to fight for survival on their rural farmhouse in upstate New York as their world is overrun by vicious, blind monsters that hunt their prey through their enhanced hearing. The family is forced to live in silence in response, adapting sign language to communicate and walking barefoot on sand to damper the sounds of their steps.

See Glen Powell in the trailer for ‘The Running Man’ remake

Paramount Pictures has teased the remake of the 1987 film The Running Man, starring Glen Powell as Ben Richards – a man who is blacklisted from working, but is intent on providing for his sick daughter. His plight prompts him to join a high-stakes TV competition, The Running Man.

In addition to Powell, “The Running Man” also stars Colman Domingo, William H. Macy, Emilia Jones, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Katy O’Brian, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, and Michael Cera.

The film is a remake of the 1987 feature film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger; both the original film and the remake are adaptations of Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name. According to the official synopsis, “The Running Man is the top-rated show on television — a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite — and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.”

The latest trailer for the film opens with Ben Richards (Powell) reflecting on his choice to enter a deadly game that could win him a large sum of money should he survive. The game is broadcast on television as he tries to survive the assassins hunting him, where he makes the crazy choice to enter the game regardless, in hopes of securing the money so he can support his family.

The Running Man arrives in theaters Nov. 14; see the trailer – HERE.

Limp Bizkit bassist and co-founding member Sam Rivers dies at age 48

Limp Bizkit bassist, backing vocalist and co-founding member Sam Rivers has died at the age of 48. A cause of death was not provided, but media outlet TMZ reported that Rivers had undergone a liver transplant in 2018.

Limp Bizkit – comprised of members Fred Durst (lead vocals), John Otto (drums), Wes Borland (guitar) and DJ Lethal (turntables) — shared the news on their Instagram account, writing in a statement:
💔 In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers 💔

Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat. Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.

From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.

We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there. He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory.

We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always.
Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends.
— Fred, Wes, John & DJ Lethal

Limp Bizkit formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994; the group would go on to earn three Grammy nominations. Rivers developed his passion for music while growing up with Otto; and later met Durst when both were employed at a Chick-fil-A restaurant. Limp Bizkit’s classic lineup came together in 1996, two years after its founding, with the addition of Borland and DJ Lethal.

The band is best known for hit songs like “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle),” “Take A Look Around,” and “My Way,” all featured on their third studio album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. Their most iconic single, “Break Stuff,” has amassed nearly a billion streams on Spotify. Over the course of its career, Limp Bizkit has released six studio albums, most of which have earned platinum status. The group’s most recent project was “Battlefield: The After-party,” created for the video game ‘Battlefield 6.’ The band is slated to begin their Gringo Papi Tour on Nov. 29, supported by Yungblud, 311, Ecca Vandal, Riff Raff and Slay Squad.

Rivers temporarily departed Limp Bizkit in 2015 after developing liver disease; following a successful liver transplant, he returned to the lineup three years later and continued performing with the band until his passing.

Florence + The Machine shares the new track ‘One of the Greats’

Florence + The Machine have shared their new single, “One of the Greats,” taken from the band’s upcoming sixth studio album, Everybody Scream, dropping on October 31st. Everybody Scream will be the group’s first full-length project following 2022’s Dance Fever.

Snger Florence Welch revealed in a press release: “I don’t really know how to explain myself with this one, it was sort of a long poem about the cost of greatness. Me and Bowen (guitarist Mark Bowen) from IDLES wrote it in one take. He played the guitar and I just sang it straight from the page. We meant to re-record it but the first take just had this amazing energy. Then Aaron Dessner helped us take it to a truly transcendent place. I wanted it to feel like you were disintegrating into nothing at the end. Which is sometimes what the creative process feels to me. Death and resurrection over and over.”

One of the Greats” follows the album’s title track, which was released earlier this year; check out the visualizer for the song  – HERE.
