Def Leppard to release album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Def Leppard will release a new album with London’s iconic The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, titled ‘Drastic Symphonies.’  The album, due out May 19th, will feature some of Def Leppard’s greatest songs reimagined, as well as a few rare tracks.  Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott shares: “Def Leppard has always enjoyed veering off the expected path – working with the likes of Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift & Alison Krauss for example. So, when the offer to revisit some of our back catalogue with the Royal Philharmonic was presented to us, we all jumped at it. Although we’re far from the first band to ever do this, working directly with an orchestra at Abbey Road on some of our more orchestrated songs seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up.”

Drastic Symphonies will be available on CD, 2LP black vinyl, limited 2LP colored vinyl, limited 2LP picture disc, CD/Blu-Ray (Atmos) and digitally. The vinyl and Atmos versions will also feature an exclusive bonus track “Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad.”  A collection of exclusive merch is now available for pre-order in the band’s official webstore.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was recorded at Abbey Road in March 2022 and is produced by Def Leppard, Ronan McHugh & Nick Patrick, with arrangements by Eric Gorfain. The first preview from the album is “Animal” which can be streamed – here.

James Gunn will write and direct ‘Superman: Legacy’ reboot

James Gunn confirmed he will be writing and directing the upcoming Superman: Legacy film, with Deadline reporting that Gunn — the new head honcho of Warner Bros. DC Studios division — will be helming one of the most important projects for the rebooted DC Universe.

Kicking-off his “Chapter One, Gods and Monsters” of the DC Universe, Gunn and co-chairman & CEO Peter Safran are looking to add younger actors who can carry the DC franchise for the next decade and beyond. Gone from the DC Universe under Gunn’s leadership are Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Black Adam) and Jason Momoa (Aquaman).

Gunn announced last fall he was writing a new Superman movie, and that Henry Cavill would not be returning as the Man of Steel as the project deals with the character’s early days. Superman: Legacy will tell the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas, and Gunn has noted that his Superman will be younger than his 40s.
