The B-52’s announce their farewell tour

The B-52’s have announced they will embark on a final ‘farewell’ tour this year.  The band will kick off a North American farewell tour on Aug. 22 in Seattle, before wrapping-up on Nov. 11 in Atlanta. The B-52’s will be joined by guests KC and the Sunshine Band and the Tubes at select stops of the tour.

B-52’s cofounder Kate Pierson said: “Who knew what started as a way to have some fun and play music for our friends at house parties in Athens in 1977 would evolve into over 45 years of making music and touring the world. It’s been cosmic.”  Cofounder Fred Schneider added: “No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it’s time for one last blowout with our friends and family … our fans. And with KC and the Sunshine Band and the Tubes on board, it’s going to be one hell of a farewell party at these concerts.”

Tickets will go on sale on April 29 at the B-52’s website and via Ticketmaster.

Sharon Osbourne reveals that husband Ozzy has tested positive for COVID-19

Ozzy Osbourne has tested positive for COVID-19, according to his wife, Sharon.  Sharon, who is in the U.K. filming a new show, confirmed the diagnosis in an interview with Talk TV.

An emotional Sharon said: “I spoke to him, and he’s OK. I am very worried about Ozzy right now. We’ve gone two years without him catching COVID, and it’s just Ozzy’s luck he would get it now.” Sharon added that she plans to fly back to Los Angeles to be with her husband and “hold him and kiss him with about three masks on. It will take a week to get my old man back on his feet again.”

Sharon has spoken publicly about her husband’s recent health issues. In September, it was revealed that Ozzy was scheduled to undergo surgery for spine and neck issues suffered from a 2019 fall.  Although she was emotional during the interview, Sharon was confident hat Ozzy will fully recover: “You’re going to see me back on air in a week because I know my husband… we’re going to get him back on his feet and we’re going to get a negative test by next week.”

Ozzy’s COVID-19 diagnosis arrived shortly after he confirmed that his new album has been completed, though a release date hasn’t been set yet. The record will feature contributions from Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.

Bad Bunny to star in Spider-Man standalone film ‘El Muerto’

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — better known by his stage name Bad Bunny — has been cast as the newest Marvel hero, and will lead the Spider-Man standalone comic book film “El Muerto.” Ocasio will be the first Latino actor to headline a live-action Marvel film.

Sony Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch made the announcement at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.  Known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, El Muerto is a wrestler whose powers are handed down by ancestry in the form of a mask (which, according to Marvel’s official site, gives him superhuman strength). In past comics, El Muerto has gotten in the ring with Spider-Man himself.  At CinemaCon, Sony suggested Ocasio will portray ‘an antihero on the verge of inheriting his father’s power.’

Bad Bunny is a noted professional wrestling fan who competed at WWE’s WrestleMania 37 in April and at the 2022 Royal Rumble in January. Bad Bunny told the crowd at CinemaCon about his love of wrestling, adding, “to bring El Muerto to life is just incredible…so exciting.”   Bad Bunny’s acting experience includes a previous role in ‘Narcos: Mexico’, and he will next be seen in Bullet Train, which comes to theaters on July 29.

“El Muerto” is set to hit theaters on Jan. 12, 2024.
