KORN bassist Fieldy announces hiatus from band

Bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu of KORN has released a statement saying he is taking a hiatus from the band due to falling back “on some bad habits” in the last six years. This will be the first time in the 28 year history of the band that will be without Fieldy, a founding member of the band.

Fieldy’s full statement reads:

To all Korn fans worldwide. The past 6 years I’ve been dealing with some personal issues that at times have caused me to fall back on some of my bad habits and has caused some tension with the people around me. It’s been suggested to me to take some time off to heal. I’m going to respect what was asked of me and take that time. Unfortunately you will not see me on stage with my band. I will be working towards getting the bad habits out of my system. In the meantime I will be staying creative to keep my mind & soul in a good place. I’m thankful for all of your support, patience & understanding as we all have something that we deal with.
Jonathan, Munky, Ray and Head, I love you and I don’t want to bring any tension or bad vibes to the circle.

–  Fieldy

Korn will be hitting the road this summer with Staind; as of press time, there was no word on who will be replacing Fieldy on tour.

Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx to release new memoir about life before starting the band

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx will release a new memoir titled The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx, chronicling his early years before life with the band.  The memoir will be released on October 19th.

Said Sixx in a press release: “You’ve heard the tales of excess and debauchery. All the peaks and the valleys that came with rock and roll stardom and my life in one of the world’s biggest bands. This is the story that you haven’t heard. The one that led up to those stories. It’s the intimate, personal story of how an innocent Idaho farm boy with a burning dream and desire — for music, for love, and for fame — became the notorious Nikki Sixx. I believe our first 21 years have a lot to do with shaping who we become. These are my first 21, and it’s my hope that they thrill and inspire you to invest in your own, biggest dreams.”

Nikki Sixx previously documented his battle with drug addiction in his book The Heroin Diaries, and Mötley Crüe’s life of debauchery was chronicled the book The Dirt, which was turned into a Netflix movie in 2019. The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx will be available in hardcover, eBook, and audio editions, and can be pre-ordered on Amazon.

The Killers and Bruce Springsteen collaborate on new song ‘Dustland’

The Killers and Bruce Springsteen have teamed up on a new song titled “Dustland”.  “Dustland” is a remake of The Killers’ 2008 song “A Dustland Fairytale,” which appeared on the group’s album Day & Age.  You can pre-save the song: here.

In an Instagram post, The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers recalled how Springsteen texted him about working together in February 2020. Flowers said he wrote “A Dustland Fairytale” during his late mom’s battle with cancer, writing: “It was an attempt to better understand my dad, who is sometimes a mystery to me. To grieve for my mother. To acknowledge their sacrifices and maybe even catch a glimpse of just how strong love needs to be to make it in this world. It was my therapy. It was cathartic….I’m grateful to him for opening this door for me. I’m grateful to my parents for their example to me. Now go find something new out about your dad, give your mom a big hug, and for god’s sake listen to Bruce Springsteen.”

The Killers released their sixth studio album, Imploding the Mirage, in August. 71-year-old Springsteen released his 20th album, Letter to You, in October.

Van Morrison announces fall U.S. tour dates

Van Morrison has announced a series of U.S. tour dates this fall, kicking off Sept. 25 in Greenwood Village, Colo., heading through California and wrapping up with three shows at Las Vegas’ the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in February next year. The tour will follow the release of Morrison’s most recent album, 2020’s Latest Record Project: Volume 1, a collection of songs written largely in lockdown.

As coronavirus restrictions lift in the U.S., in the U.K, more than 5,000 shows have been canceled as the result of a four-week lockdown extension, which seemingly contribute to Morrison’s move to schedule U.S. shows.

Tickets and further information for the upcoming tour can be found at Morrison’s website.
