Jack White teases new music in 2024

Former White Stripes frontman Jack White is teasing new music in 2024, taking to his Instagram page on New Year’s Day (January 1) to share a new snippet of what many believe is new music. The clip features White’s trademark guitar riff, without any vocals – and no further details were shared (such as a title or release date).

White last released his two solo albums ‘Fear Of The Dawn’ and ‘Entering Heaven Alive’ in 2022. More recently, he released ‘The White Stripes – Live In Las Vegas’ 3xLP package from 2003 last October, which also featured a collaborative live version of ‘Ball And Biscuit’ with Bob Dylan in Detroit, Michigan in 2004 on a bonus seven-inch record pressed on glittery red vinyl.

Motley Crue share details on their ‘old school’ new music

Motley Crue guitarist John 5 is sharing details about the new music that the band is working on, calling the band’s sound ‘old school’, and similar to the group’s debut album, “Too Fast For Love”.

John 5 told Illinois Entertainer: “We have recorded some songs with Bob Rock (producer). Just the other day, Nikki (Sixx / bass) called me and he was playing guitar over the phone, and he’ll play a riff, and he’ll sing this melody, and it sounded like it could be something off of Too Fast For Love. It’s just natural for him to write these songs that I have loved and lots of other people have loved. I think we’re always going to make new music, because, man, this guy is pumping out amazing lyrics and great music. When we all get together, it’s pretty magical.”

Drummer Tommy Lee also recently spoke about new music in an interview The Desert Sun: “Wait until you hear it, it’s insane. It’s not a full album, but that might be down the road a bit. We’re always writing and doing stuff, so that’s always a possibility down the road. But we just went to the studio not too long ago and recorded three insane tracks and one of them is called ‘Dogs Of War.’ We’re just finishing up the video for it. For those jonesing for some new Crue, people are going to bug out. John 5 is playing on it, the guitar work is incredible and it sounds sick.”

See Mike Portnoy play Dream Theater’s “Pull Me Under” for the first time in over 13 years

Drummer Mike Portnoy, who recently rejoined Dream Theater after a 13-year absence, has shared a drum playthrough of the band’s “Pull Me Under” in a new tutorial video.

The clip comes as part of a video package for the instructional drum platform Drumeo, and was filmed just weeks after Portnoy announced his return to Dream Theater. A playthrough of the band’s well-known early number “Pull Me Under” — which Portnoy hadn’t played since leaving the band — was the first content to drop. Portnoy says in the 14-minute video clip: “It was only announced that I’m rejoining Dream Theater only a few weeks ago at the point of filming this, so for me to play this now, it’s kind of just like riding a bicycle. The muscle memory is just there for life; it’ll be there forever.”

Portnoy added in a post on Facebook: “I had such a blast at Drumeo! We filmed sooo much content that will slowly be revealed over the coming months …here’s the first of MANY songs/videos to come! I hadn’t played this song in over 13 years! The song that started it all for us… #WhenDreamAndMPReunite #Drumeo #MikePortnoy #DreamTheater”

Paramore wipe social media accounts, take down website

Paramore have wiped all of their official social media accounts and taken down their website, prompting confusion from fans as they speculate about their future.

Paramore – comprised of frontwoman Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro – took down all posts and images from their X, Facebook and Instagram profiles, while their official website, paramore.net, redirected to a 404 not found error page, which is what happens when a server can not locate a page that is requested.

Their official Instagram and X accounts show only generic placeholder graphics shown. Back on December 14th, the group shared a the quote: “Now that Paramore has spent the year touring behind This Is Why (and making sure to take better care of themselves while they’re at it), a chapter of the band’s career has come to a close. They’ve now fulfilled all label obligations and are effectively free agents.”

Paramore’s three members also agreed that there’s a level of uncertainty as to their future. Williams said: “the only thing that matters is we will still get to be each other’s community,’” while drummer Zac Farro added, “I just hope we can keep building the Paramore empire and then rule the world.”

Federal court revives lawsuit against Nirvana over 1991 ‘Nevermind’ naked baby album cover

A federal appeals court revived a child sexual exploitation lawsuit filed by the man who appeared naked as a 4-month-old on the cover of Nirvana’s 1991 album “Nevermind.” The lawsuit from Spencer Elden alleges that he has suffered “permanent harm”, while the band and others profited from the image of him underwater as a baby, naked, in a swimming pool. The suit says the image of Elden as a baby violated federal laws on child sexual abuse material, although no criminal charges were ever sought.

Last year, a federal judge in California threw out the lawsuit, but allowed Elden to file a revised version, which the judge later dismissed on grounds that it was outside the 10-year statute of limitations of one of the laws used as a cause of action.

The new decision from a three-judge panel of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in California reversed that ruling and sent the case back to the lower court. The panel found that each republication of an image “may constitute a new personal injury”, citing the image’s appearance on a 30th anniversary reissue of “Nevermind” in 2021.

Nirvana attorney Bert Deixler called the ruling a “procedural setback,” writing in a statement: “we will defend this meritless case with vigor and expect to prevail.”

Ozzy Osbourne responds to online death hoax, confirming he is alive

Ozzy Osbourne is speaking out regarding an online death hoax, and is confirming that he is, in fact, very much alive.

The legendary Black Sabbath singer said on the latest episode of ‘The Osbournes’ podcast: “I’m not dead. I’m not going any-f***ing-where. And I’m gonna go up and do some more gigs before I’m finished anyway,” explaining he was caught off guard by a video that was circulating online suggesting he had passed away.  Said Ozzy: “The thing on YouTube, it’s got ‘Celebrities Who Have Died Today,’ and there’s a picture of me. I’m not dead. I’m not really dead … Just a little flesh wound. It’s a bit f**king much, isn’t it?”

Ozzy later said that the clickbait video was strategically phrased to avoid any potential lawsuits. “What they do is, they kind of say you’re dead-ish,  It’s kind of weird the way they word it.” That’s when Ozzy’s son, Jack, jokingly replied:  “We’ll do the viking burial. I’ll shoot a flaming arrow on your raft.”

As fans know, Ozzy has suffered his fair share of health problems over the past few years, enduring various operations to deal with injuries suffered from a quad bike accident and, later, a serious fall in his home. These problems, along with his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease, have given cause to the online death hoaxes.
