2021 Oscars To Be Delayed Until April

The 2021 Oscars have been postponed two months, due to the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. Originally set to air on February 28th, the awards ceremony will now take place on April 25th, 2021.

Additionally, the Academy has extended the eligibility period for nominated films by two months. The window for qualifying films now spans from January 1st 2020 to February 28th, 2021, with a general submission deadline set for January 15th 2021. The Academy plans to return to a standard January to December eligibility period next year.

The Academy made substantial, unprecedented adjustments to the eligibility rules this past April in response to the outbreak. One of those allows for digital screenings, altering the long-standing requirement that films needed to be screened physically for at least one week in a Los Angeles-area theater in order to qualify.

‘Teen Mom 2′ Star Jenelle Evans’ Husband, David Eason, Arrested On Assault With A Deadly Weapon Charges

Former Teen Mom 2 star David Eason, the husband of Jenelle Evans, was arrested over the weekend for assault with a deadly weapon and sending threats. Eason was booked at Columbus County Detention Center and was released on an unsecured bond. His next court hearing is set for July 6. Evans said she planned to file a restraining order against Eason. Eason was arrested after a fight allegedly broke out between himself and Evans’ friends, and Eason allegedly hit one of the men with a pistol, causing injuries to his back and neck. Evans is now staying at a relative’s home

Evans also shared on her Facebook page that she was doing well, and planned to take another social media hiatus. “I just want to let the public, tabloids, and my fans know that IM OK, IM SAFE AND SO ARE THE KIDS! I’m going to take a few days out to myself to gather my thoughts and focus on what’s going on so I won’t be on social media much,” she wrote. “I love you all for the support that you all have shown me and I’ll be stronger and better than ever soon!”

Back in October 2019, Evans said she was going to file for divorce from Eason and moved from North Carolina to the Nashville area with her children. However, Eason revealed the couple was back together in March. The couple has been married since 2017 and are parents to 3-year-old daughter Ensley. She also has two children from previous relationships, Kaiser Griffith, 5, and Jace Evans, 10.

‘Beatles: Get Back’ Documentary Postponed Until Next Year

Peter Jackson’s upcoming documentary about the Beatles’ Get Back sessions has been postponed until next year. The Beatles: Get Back, chronicles the group’s rehearsals and performances from January 1969 as it began work on a new album. The movie was originally scheduled to open in September but has now been delayed for almost a year until August 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Beatles: Get Back is just one of several projects that Disney has postponed until next year. The film expands on the Beatles’ original 1970 movie Let It Be, which was envisioned as a TV special before the group changed direction during the making of the album. The Beatles had intended to “get back” to their roots with a new stripped-down record. Jackson’s documentary will include previously unseen footage. Jackson’s movie will also include the entirety of the famous rooftop concert.

Rihanna And Other Artists Sign Open Letter Urging For Police Reform In NYC

Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Meek Mill, the Jonas Brothers and many more are joining the call for reform of policing in New York. The artists signed an open letter asking New York legislators to repeal section 50-A of New York State’s Civil Rights Law. The statute currently keeps police personnel files confidential and basically out of the public’s reach.

“We mourn the killing of George Floyd and the unnecessary loss of so many black lives before his. We must hold accountable those who violate the oath to protect and serve, and find justice for those who are victim to their violence,” the open letter reads in part. “An indispensable step is having access to disciplinary records of law enforcement officers. New York statute 50-A blocks that full transparency, shielding a history of police misconduct from public scrutiny, making it harder to seek justice and bring about reform. It must be repealed immediately.”

The letter is directed at Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. The petition and open letter comes in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. Governor Cuomo said earlier this week that there is a need for real discussion on how to “reinvent and reimagine policing for a new generation and a new society.” He noted the discussion is a “long time coming and long overdue.”

TV Show COPS Canceled After 32 Seasons

Paramount Network has cancelled the long-running reality police TV series COPS, in light of George Floyd’s murder and the ensuing nationwide protests over police brutality.
The 33rd season of Cops had been set to premiere on Monday, but the episode was pulled by Paramount. In a statement, the network said there are no “current or future plans” for new episodes of the series.
Paramount has broadcast Cops since 2013 after picking it up from Fox, where it had run for 25 seasons.

Live PD, A&E’s popular police reality series, was pulled last weekend’s episode amid protests. However, THR reports that, as of now, new episodes are scheduled to air this coming weekend.
