Britney Spears Requests To Have Father Removed As Her Sole Conservator In New Court Filings

According to new court documents filed, Britney Spears has requested that her father, Jamie Spears, be removed as her sole conservator. Jamie Spears was put in charge of his daughter’s welfare and finances in 2008.  He relinquished some control last year as he battled ill health, and Britney’s longtime caregiver, Jodi Montgomery, took over as temporary conservator.

Now Britney’s court-appointed attorney has filed new documents requesting Montgomery’s role be made permanent, explaining the singer ‘strongly prefers’ to keep her on board.

Reports state that “Britney is strongly opposed to having [Jamie] return as conservator of her person,” which is a role he’s been in since the conservatorship was put into place in 2008. Instead, the star apparently “strongly prefers” that her care manager and temporary conservator Jodi Montgomery — who stepped in for Jamie in the wake of his ongoing health issues — continues acting as her conservator of her person “as [she] has done for nearly a year.” Another hearing about the conservatorship is set to take place on Wednesday.

Three Top Producers Let Go From “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” After Claims Of Toxic Workplace Environment

Ellen DeGeneres apologized to her staff in a Zoom meeting on Monday, during which employees also learned three executive producers will be parting ways with the show. As production resumed on the show since the coronavirus shutdown, DeGeneres addressed her entire team, opening with the staffing updates, and apologizing for the upheaval.

A spokesperson for Warner Bros. confirmed that executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman are leaving The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Glavin, Leman, and Norman were accused of sexual misconduct in a BuzzFeed News article from late July, in which 36 anonymous former staffers alleged incidents of “harassment, sexual misconduct, and assault from top producers.”

Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner, and Derek Westervelt are staying on as executive producers. The three have been with the Ellen show since it began in 2003.  The show’s resident DJ, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, – who defended DeGeneres – has been promoted to co-executive producer.

Two Men Charged In Unsolved Murder Of Rapper Jam Master Jay In 2002

U.S. prosecutors announced on Monday that two men are being charged for the murder of Jam Master Jay, one of the founder members of Run-DMC.  The 37-year-old rapper was murdered back in 2002 “in cold blood” as part of a dispute over a drug deal.

Jam Master Jay – whose real name was Jason Mizell — was shot inside a recording studio in the New York City borough of Queens. One of the accused men, Karl Jordan Jr., pleaded not guilty to murder and eight drug-related charges through his lawyer when he was arraigned on Monday. The other man, Ronald Washington, will be arraigned later this week. If convicted they would face 20 years to life behind bars.

Seth DuCharme, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said at a news conference, “This is a case about a murder that for nearly two decades had gone unanswered, and so today we begin to answer that question of who killed Jason Mizell, and why They walked in and they murdered him (Mizell) in cold blood.”

Run-DMC, one of the best-known rap acts of the 1980s. Jam Master Jay was a founding member, along with Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “DMC” McDaniel.
