Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan recovering after second bout with COVID-19

Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan has revealed that he contracted COVID-19 for a second time late last year, and suffered severe breathing issues that brought him to the emergency room.

The musician first caught coronavirus in late February 2020, and at that time shared the lasting symptoms he was experiencing, saying that he took “some major medications” to try and beat it. “Still coughing,” he said in October. “There’s still lung damage.”  Maynard says he got COVID-19 again in mid-November, and “ended up in the ER on December 1”.

Maynard says, “Ugly, ugly. Couldn’t breathe. I could barely put two words together without going into a coughing fit that, you know? It ended up kind of also progressing into pneumonia. So, if I stayed in the hospital, they said, ‘Okay, we can keep you here, but you’re fighting 12 other people for a bed and a ventilator we don’t have, so what do you want to do?’ I’m like, ‘Well, I need to breathe and I need to sleep.”

Noah Centineo attached to Netflix project about GameStop drama

Streaming service Netflix is in talks to make a movie about the recent GameStop drama that hit Wall Street.  The film will center on the ongoing battle between hedge funds and the amateur Reddit traders who caused GameStop stock to skyrocket to more than 1,700 percent last week through investing apps like Robinhood.

Deadline reported that the currently untitled film would star “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” actor Noah Centineo and be produced by Brad Weston and Nick Styne. “The Hurt Locker” screenwriter Mark Boal is in negotiations to write it, and NYU Stern marketing professor Scott Galloway is in talks to consult on the script, the sources said.

In addition to the GameStop saga, sources say the movie will explore how social media was used to spread baseless claims about voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election

“Black Panther” director and co-writer Ryan Coogler is developing a television series set in the movie’s fictional futuristic kingdom of Wakanda. The Walt Disney Co said that in a statement that the new series for the Disney+ streaming service will be created as part of a five-year television deal with Coogler’s Proximity Media production company.

Coogler is currently working on a movie sequel to 2018 blockbuster “Black Panther,” which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in July 2022. The original “Black Panther” took in $1.3 billion at box offices around the world and earned a best picture nomination at the Oscars. The movie starred the late Chadwick Boseman, and Marvel Studios have confirmed that the role will not be recast following Boseman’s death in August 2020.

Disney said in December that it plans to release 10 new TV series each in the Marvel and Star Wars franchises.  No release date was announced for the “Wakanda” series under development.
