Natalie Morales leaves NBC News after 22 years to join ‘The Talk’ as new co-host

Natalie Morales is officially joining CBS’ daytime show “The Talk,” after announcing last week she was leaving NBC News after 22 years with the network. Morales will join the “The Talk” alongside hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood. The addition of Morales follows several recent departures, including Sharon Osbourne and Elaine Welteroth.

The 49-year-old Morales, the West coast anchor of “Today” and “Dateline NBC” correspondent, said in a note to colleagues last week that she would be leaving the network in order to “pursue a new adventure.” She joined “Today” in 2006 and became the morning show’s news anchor five years later, replacing Ann Curry, who had been named to replace Meredith Vieira as a main anchor. Morales went on to anchor “Access Hollywood” and became West coast anchor for “Today.”

Morales said in a statement: “It’s an extraordinary opportunity to be joining this team at ‘The Talk.’ I love the new energy and direction and couldn’t be more excited to join Sheryl, Amanda, Jerry and Akbar. I’m looking forward to many good times while talking about the days’ topics, and I can’t wait to get going.”

Motley Crue releasing remastered versions of ‘Shout At The Devil’ and ‘Too Fast For Love’

Motley Crue continues its 40th anniversary celebration with the release of the digital remaster of the band’s second studio album “Shout At The Devil” which include the hit songs “Looks That Kill”, “Too Young To Fall In Love” and title track “Shout At The Devil.” Released in September 1983, Shout At The Devil reached No. 17 on the Billboard 200, moved over four million copies in the U.S. and was certified quadruple platinum in the U.S., triple platinum in Canada and gold in Australia.

The Crue’s 40th anniversary celebrations will culminate with the digital remaster of their album “Too Fast For Love”, arriving exactly 40 years to the original release date of November 10, 1981. The new remasters join the recently released digital remasters of “Dr. Feelgood”, “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Theatre Of Pain”, which kicked off the band’s 40th-anniversary celebrations earlier this year.

Motley Crue’s “The Stadium Tour” with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts was originally scheduled to take place last summer, but ended up being pushed back to 2021 – and then to 2022 – due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Testament, Exodus and Death Angel tour dates postponed until 2022

The Bay Strikes Back Tour, featuring Testament, Exodus and Death Angel, has been postponed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The trek was set to kick off next week in on Oct. 6 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. and end in late November.

Testament guitarist Eric Peterson said in a press release:  “We were really on the fence with this decision. But seeing other bands make it through with a few mild cases and other bigger bands just cancelling their entire tours, we felt it is in our best interest to postpone these shows to ’22.”  Alex Skolnick added:  “It gives none of us any pleasure to be the bearers of bad news yet again, but here we are. Although Bay Strikes Back is a top tour package for theaters, the reality is this: It can’t afford to take the risks that top grossing larger venue tours have been taking. The type of disruptions KISS and other large outdoor venue tours have experienced could cause our shows to be permanently cancelled – a lose/lose for everyone.”

All three bands will still play Aftershock Festival‘s Thursday night kickoff on Oct. 7 in Sacramento, Calif., and also their November 27 hometown show in Oakland, California.

Positive COVID tests shut down Broadway’s ‘Aladdin’ until Oct. 12

The producers of the Broadway musical Aladdin have announced performances of the show will be canceled through Oct. 10 because of breakthrough cases of COVID-19 among the show’s vaccinated cast and crew. The next planned performance is Oct. 12.

A post on the Aladdin Twitter feed said: “We will continue to provide support to the affected Aladdin company members as they recover. We apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience this causes ticket holders, but we trust that audiences will agree that safety must be at the forefront of our return to Broadway.”

Aladdin resumed performances just last Tuesday, after Broadway recently reopened after being shut down for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The cast, crew and adult members of the audience have to be fully vaccinated to take part of the show, and audience members also must wear masks in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Children too young to be vaccinated must show proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test.

David Lee Roth will retire at the end of his Las Vegas residency

Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth announced his retirement, telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal
“I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring. This is the first, and only, official announcement … You’ve got the news. Share it with the world.” Roth, 66, declined to elaborate why he wanted to retire, adding, “I’m not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows.” His farewell residency will be at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, with concerts starting on New Year’s Eve and continuing on January 1, 5, 7 and 8. Tickets went on sale Saturday, October 2.

Roth met Alex and Eddie Van Halen in the 1970s at Pasadena City College in California, and went on to start the legendary rock band. Roth left the band in 1985 before a brief return in 1996 at the MTV Music Awards. Since then, Roth has been a solo performer.

Roth said that he expected to be the first member of Van Halen to die, so when Eddie was first to pass in October 2020 amid his battle with throat cancer, it was shocking.  Roth did not reveal the status of his own health currently, but noted, “My doctors, my handlers, compelled me to really address that every time I go onstage, I endanger that future.  I’ve given you all I’ve got to give. It’s been an amazing, great run, no regrets, nothing to say about anybody. I’ll miss you all. Stay frosty.”
