Kevin Spacey pleads not guilty to sexual assault charges

Kevin Spacey entered a not-guilty plea on Thursday morning connected to sex offenses leveled against him that date back almost 20 years. The 62-year-old Spacey appeared in London’s criminal court over the sexual assault charges stemming from his time as an artistic director at a local theater between 2005 and 2013. The actor was charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

In a court appearance last month, Spacey’s lawyer said the actor “strenuously denied all allegations.” Spacey was questioned by cops in 2019 about claims by several men who said he assaulted them during his time as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic theater between 2005 and 2013. The alleged victims are all now in their 30s and 40s. Four of the alleged incidents took place in London between March 2005 and August 2008, and one in Gloucestershire, England, in April 2013. The Crown Prosecution Service authorized charges against the actor in May, but he could only be formally charged once arriving on British soil last month.

Spacey, who was granted unconditional bail, could face life in prison if found guilty of the most serious offense. If convicted of sexual assault he could be slapped with a six-month prison sentence or an unlimited fine.

Pantera’s Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown to be joined by guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante for 2023 reunion tour

Surviving Pantera members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown are reuniting to tour in 2023 across North America, with guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante rounding out the lineup. The tour will mark the first Pantera live shows of any kind since the band’s final gig together in Yokohoma, Japan on August 26, 2001.

Billboard broke the news that Anselmo and Brown signed with Artist Group International for the tour. Artist Group International representative Peter Pappalardo released a statement, stating: “We are thrilled to be working with such an iconic band and bringing their music back to the fans.”  Later, Billboard updated the news: “The lineup has been given a green light by the estates of the band’s founders, Vincent ‘Vinnie Paul’ Abbott and ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott, as well as Brown, who last year said Wylde wouldn’t tour with a reunited Pantera if that were to happen. It’s unclear what changed his mind.”

Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was murdered onstage with Damageplan in 2004; drummer Vinnie Paul died at age 54 in 2018. Pantera formally broke up in November 2003, almost two years after what would be their final show. Billboard noted that the band is expected to headline “a number of major festivals across North America and Europe,” as well as staging their own headline shows.

Pantera has sold more than 20 million albums, with the band’s most successful album being 1994’s Far Beyond Driven, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. They’ve also earned platinum status for five albums and three long-form videos and received four Grammy nominations.

We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story.”

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame curator is charged with trying to sell stolen Eagles lyrics

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame curator Craig Inciardi has been suspended from his position after he and two other men were charged with possessing handwritten lyrics and notes allegedly stolen from Eagles’ co-founder Don Henley in the 1970s.

Inciardi, along with Glenn Horowitz and Edward Kosinski, are accused of a plot to sell almost 100 pages of Henley’s handwritten notes and lyrics from Hotel California and Life In The Fast Lane to potential buyers. The documents are believed to have been stolen from Henley. The three men have been charged with conspiracy in the fourth degree, a charge which carries a potential four-year prison sentence. Glenn Horowitz additionally faces a first-degree charge for attempted criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of hindering prosecution. Inciardi and Kosinski have also been charged with criminal possession.

Eagles’ manager Irving Azoff said in a statement that Henley was looking forward to the safe of the documents: “This action exposes the truth about music memorabilia sales of highly personal, stolen items hidden behind a facade of legitimacy. No one has the right to sell illegally obtained property or profit from the outright theft of irreplaceable pieces of musical history. These handwritten lyrics are an integral part of the legacy Don Henley has created over the course of his 50-plus-year career.”

Lea Michele to star in ‘Funny Girl’ on Broadway, replacing Beanie Feldstein

The producers of the Broadway show “Funny Girl” announced that the former “Glee” star and Emmy nominee Lea Michele will be replacing Beanie Feldstein in the title role of Fanny Brice, beginning on Sept. 6.  Michele will be joined by four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh, who will replace Jane Lynch in the role of Fanny Brice’s mother.

Michele wrote on Instagram after the news was announced:  “A dream come true is an understatement  I’m so incredibly honored to join this amazing cast and production and return to the stage playing Fanny Brice on Broadway. See you September 6th.”

Feldstein and Lynch were expected to leave the show on Sept. 25, however Feldstein just announced on Instagram that she would be leaving the Broadway musical on July 31, two months earlier than expected.  The 29-year-old wrote: “Playing Fanny Brice on Broadway has been a lifelong dream of mine, and doing so for the last few months has been a great joy and true honor. Once the production decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to step away sooner than anticipated.”  Feldstein concluded, “The people I have had the great joy of bringing ‘Funny Girl’ to life with every night, both on and off the stage, are all remarkably talented and exceptional humans and I hope you continue to join them on Henry Street after I depart on July 31st.”

“Fanny Brice” standby Julie Benko is schedule to perform the play’s title role from August 2 to Sept. 4 and on Thursdays thereafter beginning Sept. 8. The show marks the first Broadway revival of “Funny Girl” since it premiered in 1964, with Barbra Streisand giving a now iconic performance as comedian Fanny Brice.
