KISS Wanted Competitive TV Show To Find New Lineup

During a recent interview KISS co-founder Gene Simmons shared that the band has talked with Survivor producer Mark Burnett about the idea of creating a tv competition show similar to American Idol to discover a new member to carry on the group after the current member call it quits.

Simmons said this on the Let There Be Talk podcast while discussing the group’s ongoing the End of the Road Farewell Tour and Gene informed the host Dean Delray that the final KISS show would be the last one to have the current KISS members.

Simmons explained, “KISS, the touring band, will stop. But the touring band, KISS will continue in other ways. I have no problems with four deserving 20-year-olds sticking the makeup back on and hiding their identity.

“Mark Burnett and I shopped KISS: The Next Generation, which was going to be a competition show to find out who’s worthy to wear the crown kind of thing.”

Simmons also shared, “we did not sell it. Timing is everything.” Simmons then explained that he did a full season of a show for Burnett for CBS that was never aired, and he also said that he was offered ‘Shark Tank’ by Burnett.

Simmons also expanded on the idea of the group living on after he, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer retire, “So, KISS will continue in ways that even I haven’t thought of. But I can conceive of, you know the Blue Man Group and Phantom of the Opera, tours around the world, with different personnel.

Machine Gun Kelly Gets His Own Day in Cleveland

Machine Gun Kelly has accomplished many things during his long career. But on Saturday, August 13th the 32-year-old rapper celebrated yet another milestone after receiving his own hometown holiday.

From this day forward August 13 will be known as Machine Gun Kelly Day in Cleveland. The announcement coincided with the opening of an MGK exhibit at the city’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame featuring a number of Colson Baker’s gear and stage outfits.

The proceeding took place hours before Kelly reached another career high: selling out the biggest venue in his hometown, the Cleveland Browns First Energy Stadium. Last week, he was rejoined by his tour mate Blink-182 drummer/producer Travis Barker on the Mainstream Sellout tour, who had dropped off earlier due to medical issues.

Nipsey Hussle gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

On what would have been his 37th Birthday, rapper Nipsey Hussle was honored Monday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Nipsey Hussle was on the rise of a mainstream breakthrough when the Crenshaw rapper was shot and killed in March 2019.

Hussle’s partner Lauren London spoke at the livestreamed ceremony. “I think I speak for the entire city of L.A. when I say that we’ve always known Hussle was destined for greatness,” London said after thanking the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “This only amplifies it for us.”

Hussle was killed in the parking lot of his Marathon Clothing Store on March 31, 2019 by Eric Holder Jr., who was convicted of first-degree murder in July of this year and is waiting to be sentenced.

After his death, Hussle was nominated for 5 Grammy Awards, winning 2 in 2020 (Best Rap Performance for “Hussle and Motivate” and Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Higher” with DJ Khaled and John Legend).

Shortly after branching off into the wine industry with 19 Crimes and marijuana business with Leafs by Snoop, Snoop Dogg is back at it again. This time with his breakfast cereal brand Snoop Loopz. Snoop Loopz is a boxed wholegrain cereal, reminiscent of Kellogg’s Fruit Loops owned by rapper’s latest venture Broadus Foods.

“Broadus Foods introduces the best tasting cereal in the game Snoop Loopz,” wrote Snoop Dogg on a Instagram post. “We’re taking over the grocery stores. The more we make, the more we give.”

After working with Martha Stewart on Stewart’s special Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party in 2016, Snoop Dogg recently partnered with Martha Stewart and launched a new wine under his 19 Crimes brand. Martha Stewart Chard is the first California Chardonnay and the third wine from the state in the collection, along with previous releases Snoop Dogg’s Snoop Cali Red and Rosé; the remainder of the 19 Crimes wines are made in Australia.

Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha Suffers Torn Achilles

Back in July, Rage Against the Machine singer Zack de la Rocha hurt his leg during the band’s second date of their reunion tour in Chicago. While keeping it from the media, a friend of de la Rocha’s, Glen E. Friedman, revealed that the artist tore his Achilles.

“I went to see my good friend Zack (with his torn Achilles) perform last night at Madison Square Garden, one of the most hallowed venues in the modern world,” Friedman wrote on Instagram. Just as Rage Against the Machine finished that fateful Chicago concert with de la Rocha sitting down, the band completed the rest of their North American tour (wrapping up tonight, August 14th, with another show at the Garden) with their leader seated at the front of the stage. However, they were forced to cancel the UK/European leg of the tour, slated for August and September, “per medical guidance” for the injury.

Discovering de la Rocha has a torn Achilles explains why Rage would have to cancel the rest of this year’s tour. Even though a torn Achilles is a common injury, it is very painful and take months to heal. Hopefully de la Rocha will recover by time RATM return on the road for a new leg of North American Shows set for early 2023.
