Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson to play King of Pop in upcoming biopic

Jaafar Jackson will portray his uncle, the legendary Michael Jackson, in the upcoming biopic “Michael,” director Antoine Fuqua announced on social media. “Michael” will be the first major film role for Jaafar Jackson, the second-youngest son to Jermaine Jackson, whose brother was Michael Jackson.

“Michael” will depict the legacy of the man who became known as the King of Pop. According to Lionsgate Studios, the film will explore all aspects of Jackosn’s life, “including his most iconic performances that led him to become the greatest entertainer of all time.” The film is being made with the cooperation of the Michael Jackson estate. Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, said “Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers.”

Producer Graham King said they held a worldwide casting search for the title role before finding the actor who would portray Jackson: “I met Jaafar over two years ago and was blown away by the way he organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael. It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person to take on this role. I am beyond thrilled that he has come on board to portray his uncle and cannot wait for the world to see him on the big screen as Michael Jackson.”  Added Fuqua: “It’s incredibly exciting to watch Jaafar bring Michael to life. There was such a spiritual connection when I first met Jaafar, who has a natural ability to emulate Michael and such a great chemistry with the camera.”

Ozzy Osbourne announces retirement from touring due to health issues

Ozzy Osbourne announced he’s canceling his upcoming 2023 tour dates, and will be retiring from touring due to health issues. The 74-year-old heavy metal legend said in statement posted to his social media accounts on Wednesday that despite operations, treatments and physical therapy sessions after an accident four years ago, his body is “still physically weak.”  Osbourne fell at his home in Los Angeles in 2019 which aggravated injuries from a 2003 ATV accident, injuring his spine. The Black Sabbath frontman also announced in 2020 that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The singer has canceled several shows over the past few years due to health issues.

Osbourne said in his statement: “This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans. As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine … My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak … I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required .. Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.  I want to thank my family…… my band…… my crew…… my longtime friends, Judas Priest, and of course, my fans for their endless dedication, loyalty, and support, and for giving me the life that I never ever dreamed I would have. I love you all…”
