Ozzy Osbourne revealed during the premier episode of the relaunched “The Osbournes” podcast that he has to undergo another surgery due to the injuries he sustained in a 2019 fall, as well as a 2003 ATV accident. Ozzy is also slated to get an epidural injection to relieve the pain he is currently experiencing.

Ozzy shared he still experiences pain despite have a previous spinal surgery to correct the injuries from his 2003 quad bike accident, saying during the podcast, “My lower back is… I’m going for an epidural soon because what’s happening, what they’ve discovered is the neck has been fixed, but below the neck there’s two vertebrae where the bike hit me and disintegrated, there’s nothing left of ’em. All I know is right now, I’m in a lot of pain, I’m in a lot of discomfort.”

Daughter Kelly Osbourne asked her father, “have we had a second opinion?”, and Ozzy responded, “I said to the doctor yesterday, I said you know what I’ve heard, which I have, people have discs replaced that are worked on and they become the strongest things in the bone. In my back, the two discs, and the muscles on my shoulders have separated from my skeleton, and that’s why I lean forward as it’s like gravity is bringing my head forward.” Wife Sharon added that doctors informed them that they don’t know if the surgery will be successful or not

Osbourne recently canceled his appearance at the upcoming Power Trip Festival, which would have seen him playing on an iconic bill alongside AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Tool. Ozzy has been replaced by Judas Priest at the three-day event, set for October 6th-8th in Indio, California.

GHOST single ‘Mary On A Cross’ certified Platinum in the U.S.

GHOST’s “Mary On A Cross” single has officially earned the band their first platinum record in the United States. The TikTok smash was certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for accumulating one million certified units (according to the RIAA, one equivalent song unit is equal to a single digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams).

“Mary On A Cross” was originally released as a two-track single in 2019 (alongside “Kiss The Go-Goat”), debuting at No. 90 on the chart with six million U.S. streams and 1,000 downloads sold. The track picked up traction after a TikTok user used a slowed down version of the song to soundtrack a short video about the Netflix show “Stranger Things,” and since then the hashtag #maryonthecross has amassed over one billion TikTok views. The song has been used to soundtrack tens of thousands of videos on the platform.

“Mary On A Cross” became the fourth GHOST single to achieve gold status in 2022, after “Cirice” (from GHOST’s third album, 2015’s “Meliora”),”Dance Macabre” (from 2018’s “Prequelle”) and “Square Hammer” (from 2016’s “Popestar” EP) were also certified gold.

‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ will resume amid WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes

Drew Barrymore announced that Season 4 of her daytime talk show ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ will begin taping this month amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes. Paramount announced last week that the talk show would return for the fall season with “a lineup of cutting-edge guests and key influencers.” While upcoming guests have yet to be named; and members of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have been on strike since mid-July.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Barrymore confirmed reports that her daytime talk show would be returning for its fourth season in the midst of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Barrymore’s statement read: “I made a choice to walk away from the MTV, film and television awards because I was the host and it had a direct conflict with what the strike was dealing with which was studios, streamers, film, and television. It was also in the first week of the strike and so I did what I thought was the appropriate thing at the time to stand in solidarity with the writers … And to be clear, our talk show actually wrapped on April 20th so we never had to shut down the show. However, I am also making the choice to come back for the first time in this strike for our show, that may have my name on it but this is bigger than just me. I own this choice. We are in compliance with not discussing or promoting film and television that is struck of any kind.”

Barrymore went on to say: “We launched live in a global pandemic. Our show was built for sensitive times and has only functioned through what the real world is going through in real time. I want to be there to provide what writers do so well, which is a way to bring us together or help us make sense of the human experience. I hope for a resolve for everyone as soon as possible. We have navigated difficult times since we first came on air. And so I take a step forward to start season 4 once again with an astute humility.”

When ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ returns with new episodes on Sep. 18, it will join daytime talk shows including The View, Tamron Hall, and Live with Kelly and Mark. Barrymore and CBS maintain that the show will remain in compliance with the strikes and refrain from promoting studio work, however, the official Twitter account for WGA East has announced plans to picket show’s tapings in the coming weeks. Actors and writers are technically allowed to appear on talk shows, they must restrain from promoting any work distributed, produced, or financed by studios or streaming platforms that are part of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The Drew Barrymore Show will return on Monday, Sep 18.
