Serj Tankin from System Of A Down shares solo single “Justice Will Shine On”

System of a Down’s Serj Tankian has shared a brand new solo single, “Justice Will Shine On,” following the previously released “A-F Day.”

“Justice Will Shine On” was composed by Tankian in the early System of a Down days — it will appear on the upcoming EP from Tankian, FOUNDATIONS, set for release on September 27th. Tankian has also unveiled the cover art for FOUNDATIONS, which features one of his original artworks titled “Sunburst.”

Fleetwood Mac announce live ‘Mirage Tour ’82’ album

Fleetwood Mac have announced the will release the live album Mirage Tour ’82, which contains recordings from the band’s two concerts at The Forum in Los Angeles in 1982.

Mirage Tour ’82 features 22 songs, with Rhino noting in a press release announcing the set, “In September 1982, Fleetwood Mac embarked on a 31-city U.S. tour in support of Mirage, the band’s fourth consecutive multiplatinum album and third No. 1 in America. Both shows at the Forum were recorded, and Mirage Tour ‘82 combines songs from both into a single concert experience.”  Available in 3xLP vinyl, 2xCD, and digital formats, the collection will be out on September 20th. Among the nearly two dozen tracks on Mirage Tour ’82 are six previously unreleased recordings from the Oct. 21 concert, including “Landslide,” “Don’t Stop” and “Never Going Back Again.” Other songs recorded on Oct. 22 have appeared on other releases over the years, including Live Super Deluxe Edition, Mirage Super Deluxe Edition and the 1983 concert video Mirage Live.

The tour marked the band’s final outing with Lyndsey Buckingham in the fold until 1997. In the liner notes, music journalist Bill DeMain describes Mirage Tour ’82 as a “riveting listen, and a reminder of when rock shows were platforms to expand and reinvent songs for the stage, to let them breathe, to unleash different, wilder sides of a band.”

Ellen Pompeo to appear in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21

Deadline reports that Ellen Pompeo is returning as Doctor Meredith Grey for seven episodes of the upcoming season 21 of Grey’s Anatomy. Pompeo will appear on at least seven of the upcoming season’s 18 episodes of Season 21, per Variety.  The next season will debut this fall, but a specific date has not yet been revealed.

Pompeo was less visible in the show beginning in Season 19, when she appeared in just eight episodes, but remained the show’s executive producer and narrator; and in Season 20 Pompeo appeared just a handful of times. The actor had taken a step back to film the eight-part Hulu series Natalia,  based on a true story.

Grey’s Anatomy, which first aired in 2005, made Pompeo one of the highest-paid women in television – she earned approximately $19 million in 2020.  The actor wrote on Instagram back in 2022: “I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith Grey, and the show for 19 seasons. I love you madly and appreciate you right back. This isn’t your first time on the rollercoaster… You know the show must go on and I’ll definitely be back to visit.”

See Paul Mescal in trailer for Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator II’

Paramount Pictures debuted the first poster as well as the trailer for  Gladiator II, slated for release on November 22 and starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington. Gladiator II is a sequel to the 2000 original film directed by Ridley Scott, which starred Russell Crowe as Maximus, a Roman general who is forced into slavery and becomes a gladiator in the wake of the death of emperor Marcus Aurelius.  The sequel film is also directed by Scott.

Gladiator II follows Lucius Verus (Mescal), the grandson of Marcus Aurelius and the son of Lucilla (played by Connie Nielsen in the original), as he too is forced to become a gladiator. The trailer opens with Lucius (Mescal) recalling watching Maximus’ (Crowe) final fight as a child:  “I never forgot it. That a slave could take revenge against an emperor.”  In the present day, Lucius is seen allying with Macrinus (Washington) and clashing with Marcus Acacius (Pascal) under the rule of emperors Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracalla (Fred Hechinger).

The poster features Mescal’s Lucius, who appears to be preparing for a battle in an arena. Gladiator II opens in theaters Nov. 22; check out the trailer: here.

Ghost’s “Rite Here Rite Now” live album is No. 1 soundtrack in the U.S.

Ghost’s Rite Here Rite Now is the No. 1 soundtrack in the United States. The original motion picture soundtrack to the highest grossing hard rock cinema event in North American history has officially topped not only the Soundtrack Albums chart, but also debuted at #1 on the Vinyl, Rock and Hard Music Album and Indie Store Album Sales charts—as well as placing top 5 on the Current Albums, Independent Albums and Digital Albums charts.

Rite Here Rite Now: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was recorded over two nights at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., in 2023, includes one studio-recorded track: “The Future Is a Foreign Land.”  The Rite Here Rite Now soundtrack arrives with 27,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 1, according to Luminate, with 26,000 of that sum in traditional album sales – supported by its availability across 10 vinyl variants (whose combined sales totaled a little over 16,000). It’s the sixth top 10-charting set for the rock band on the Top Album Sales chart.

The band recently shared the new singles and animated videos in the style of the Scooby Doo Gang animated cartoons, for “The Future is a Foreign Land” and their epic viral hit “Mary On A Cross!” Bundles are available with streaming on all DSPs, as well as a collectible double LP and CD includes a 16-page photo book, official film poster and 18 songs from the band’s debut feature film.

The Offspring share animated video for “Make It All Right”

The Offspring has released the video for “Make It All Right,” the lead single off their upcoming album, SUPERCHARGED, available October 11th.

SUPERCHARGED, the follow-up to 2021’s Let the Bad Times Roll, was recorded in three different locations — Maui, Vancouver, and the band’s home studio in Huntington Beach,  together with producer Bob Rock.

The music video, directed by Margaret Bialis, features an animated punk rocker dreaming of his “partner in crime” and eventually their love sprouts wings and takes them on adventures and across the skies. You can watch it streaming now on YouTube.

The Offspring also released two new official performance videos with a legendary guest star, Queen’s Brian May at the guitarist’s Starmus Festival in Slovakia for a performance of their song “Gone Away” as well as acover of Queen’s “Stone Cold Crazy.”

The band also continues to perform on the road, after appearing at numerous festivals this summer (including Inkcarceration Festival in Mansfield, OH on July 19th) and will be featured at the Louder Than Life Festival on September 26th.

See Vince Vaughn in trailer for new Apple TV+ series ‘Bad Monkey’

Apple TV+ will debut the new series Bad Monkey starring Vince Vaughn, a comedy-drama from Scrubs and Ted Lasso creator Bill Lawrence.

Vaughn stars in and executive produces the adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s bestselling novel.  The official synopsis reads: “Andrew Yancy (Vaughn) has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey.”

The series co-stars Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Alex Moffat, L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Natalie Martinez, and Ronald Peet. Zach Braff, John Ortiz, Ashley Nicole Black, and Scott Glenn guest star, along with Charlotte Lawrence who makes her television debut in the series.

Bad Monkey will consist of 10 episodes and have a two-episode premiere Aug. 14 on Apple TV+. Check out the trailer – here.

See Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield in the trailer for ‘We Live in Time’

A24 is teasing the new film We Live in Time, starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. The studio shared a trailer for the movie Wednesday featuring Pugh, 28, and Andrew Garfield, 40, writing on their social media: ‘Every minute counts. Watch the trailer for WE LIVE IN TIME, a decade-spanning romance from the director of ‘Brooklyn’ starring Academy Award nominees Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. In theaters this fall.’

The film reveals that the love story between Pugh and Garfield’s characters, Almut and Tobias, as is told through “snapshots of their life together — falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family.”  The full synopsis for the film reads: “Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield) are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. Through snapshots of their life together — falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family — a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken, in filmmaker John Crowley’s decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.”

Pugh teased the trailer by sharing the film’s poster on her Instagram feed, and writing: “Making this movie was such an unbelievably beautiful experience. I’m thrilled and proud to say that it’s nearly here for all of you to watch soon. In the meantime, here’s some pretty breadcrumbs ;).”

Bruce Dickinson shares video for ‘Resurrection Men’

Bruce Dickinson released the limited edition CD of his new single “Resurrection Men” last week, featuring two live bonus tracks, in addition to the official video for the track which shares a look at life on the road.

The three-track CD comes in a gatefold digi-sleeve and includes the bonus songs, “Afterglow Of Ragnarok” and “Abduction,” both of which were also recorded live at Dickinson’s show in Sao Paulo as part of his world tour for The Mandrake Project.

Said Dickinson of the tour, which started in LA on April 12th and finished in Athens, Greece on July 21st: “The tour was one of the very best. The band was just so pumped and on it every night that it was a joy. The audience reactions everywhere for songs old and new were pretty overwhelming & I already can’t wait to go back out again ! The video is my thank you to everyone who came to see us at festivals, clubs, theatres and arenas. Who said a metal audience can’t appreciate a theremin, bongos and ‘Dick Dale-esque’ surfer guitars? Mine certainly do!!”

Eddie Vedder covers Tom Petty’s ‘Room At The Top’ for new Apple TV+ series

Eddie Vedder has released a studio version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ song, “Room at the Top”, which originally appeared on Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ 1999 album, Echo.

Members of Vedder’s solo band The Earthlings joined him for the cover of Room At The Top, including bassist Chris Chaney, guitarists Josh Klinghoffer and Andrew Watt, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. In addition, frequent collaborator Glen Hansard played acoustic guitar and added backing vocals, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ keyboardist Benmont Tench joined on organ.

Vedder’s cover of Room At The Top (which he has been covering live for years) appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn and set to premiere on Aug. 14. Vedder also previously performed “Room at the Top” during the ‘in memoriam’ segment of the 2018 Oscars.

The soundtrack to Bad Monkey is due out on Oct. 4, and consists mainly of Petty covers, including Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit covering “You’re Gonna Get It,” Marcus King’s take on “The Waiting,” and Larkin Poe’s version of “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” as well as contributions from Weezer, Nathaniel Rateliff and Fitz and the Tantrums.
