Listen to Jane’s Addiction’s first new song with original lineup in 34 years

Jane’s Addiction original lineup — vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery — has returned to the studio for a new song, “Imminent Redemption”, marking their first new music together in 34 years.

The band debuted “Imminent Redemption” live earlier this year when their original lineup performed together in London for the first time since 2010. Their tour run began in Europe, and comes to North America in September. The band said in a press release: “It is different this time. To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction. ‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”

Jane’s Addiction’s last album was The Great Escape Artist in 2011, but the new material marks the original lineup’s first since 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual.  Navarro had been out of the group due to symptoms from long COVID and was replaced on the road in recent years by former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist/Pearl Jam multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer and Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen.

Halle Berry exits Ryan Murphy legal drama ‘All’s Fair’ on Hulu

Halle Berry has left Ryan Murphy’s new legal drama All’s Fair for Hulu, with Variety reporting that Berry, 57, is no longer attached to the series as a star and executive producer. The outlet cited a scheduling conflict as the reason she parted ways with the production.

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that Berry was joining the cast and executive producing team, alongside  Kim Kardashian and Glenn Close, who are producing alongside Murphy and 20th Television. Kardashian (who worked with Murphy on the most recent season of American Horror Story: Delicate) is said to be playing a successful divorce lawyer and owner of an all-female law firm in Los Angeles, while Berry’s role had yet to be revealed.

All’s Fair would have been Berry’s first TV role since CBS’ Extant in 2015; she will next be seen opposite Mark Wahlberg in the comedy-thriller The Union (premiering August 16 on Netflix) and the horror flick Never Let Go, out September 27. Her upcoming projects in pre-production are the thrillers Maude v Maude (with Angelina Jolie) and The Process, which she is starring in as well as producing.

Aerosmith cancel remainder of farewell tour, announce retirement from touring

Aerosmith has announced their retirement from the road and cancelled the remaining, rescheduled dates of their Peace Out farewell tour.  Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler sustained a vocal injury which forced the band to initially postpone their farewell tour after just three dates in September 2023; they were scheduled to resume the tour on Sept. 20 through late February.

The band shared in a statement on social media: “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith,” they wrote. “Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history. It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. * In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives. We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage. * We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you — the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”

Tyler sustained the vocal injury during a concert last September and initially said he wouldn’t be able to sing for the next 30 days, but later announced that the tour would have to be ‘put on hold’ because the injury was more serious than initially thought.   Aerosmith were scheduled to resume their farewell tour on Sept. 20 in Pittsburgh, with stops after that in Philadelphia, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago and New York.

Aerosmith noted that tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded, while all other refunds will be available at point of purchase.

Garbage cancels entire tour due to Shirley Manson injury

Garbage have issued a statement regarding their tour cancellation due to frontwoman Shirley Manson’s unspecified injury, stating that all of their remaining 2024 tour dates have been canceled, but they plan to return to the stage in 2025.

While the band didn’t specify what type of injury Manson sustained, the vocalist assured fans in the caption of the post that she would do the tour if she could, writing: “No one is more crushed about this than I am. You know I would push through if I could.”   It remains unclear which show Manson was injured at; the last concert Garbage played was on July 20 at the OVO Arena in Wembley, England.

The band’s social media statement read: “It is with great and sincere regret that we announce the cancelation of all our remaining tour dates for the rest of the year due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we apologize wholeheartedly to our amazing fans and supportive promoters. We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025.”

Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Festival also announced that Devo would take Garbage’s place at the fest.  Garbage were originally set to perform on Sept. 27 with Pearl Jam, Crowded House, Maren Morris, Keanu Reeves’ Dogstar and a few others:  “We are excited to welcome DEVO to our lineup on Friday, 9/27 👏 Unfortunately, Garbage will no longer be joining us this year. Justin Timberlake pleads not guilty in DWI case, has license suspended in NY

Justin Timberlake pleaded not guilty plea to a revised misdemeanor charge in connection to his arrest for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York this past June.  Timberlake’s drivers license was also suspended in the state of New York.

Timberlake, 43, was performing in Antwerp, Belgium over the weekend and appeared virtually on Friday in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court in New York before Justice Carl Irace. During the hearing, Irace urged caution and threatened Timberlake’s counsel with a gag order, referring to comments made outside of court to the media by the singer’s lawyer, Edward Burke. Burke previously disagreed with the claim that Timberlake was intoxicated, disputing to reporters that the police made “very significant errors” and asserting that “he was not intoxicated.”

Burke told reporters after court regarding the suspended license: “This is standard procedure with every DWI case. In New York, the suspension stays during the pendency of the case and is resolved at the end. Other states have similar regulations. .. We are very confident that charge, that criminal charge, will be dismissed.”

Timberlake was pulled over and arrested in June in Sag Harbor, with police stating that he drove through a stop sign and swerved into another lane. Authorities determined the pop star was driving drunk, had bloodshot, glassy eyes and “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” emanating from his breath, according to the criminal complaint. He also had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on a field sobriety test, the complaint said. Timberlake told the arresting officer he had only one drink, according to the complaint.

A further conference hearing in the case is scheduled for August 9, which Timberlake is not required to attend. The judge asked the singer’s attorney to find a date when Timberlake can appear in person, perhaps as soon as Sept. 13.
