Emilia Clarke to star in spy drama ‘PONIES’ at Peacock

Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke will star in the spy thriller PONIES at Peacock.  Peacock gave a straight-to-series order to the 1970s espionage thriller, also executive produced by Clarke.  The Cold War-era show is co-created, co-written and executive produced by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, and exec produced by Jessica Rhoades.

The series, set in Moscow in 1977, “follows two “PONIES” (persons of no interest) who work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila, is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.”

Clarke is currently filming Criminal for Amazon’s Prime Video, where she stars Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes and Adria Arjona based on the graphic novel by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

Dropkick Murphys share the video for ‘Sirens’

Dropkick Murphys have dropped the video for their new single “Sirens,” the first tease off their new album coming in 2025. “Sirens” was produced by longtime DKM collaborator Ted Hutt, and was mixed by Ted Hutt and Ryan Mall.

Dropkick Murphys’ frontman Ken Casey shares: “For nearly a decade, the division between red and blue, right and left, has grown deeper, darker and uglier – dividing families, and ending friendships. Nobody enjoys this more than the billionaires, who are making record profits off the blood, sweat, and tears of the working class. They love it when we fight amongst ourselves, because their biggest fear is us joining together to come after them…THE REAL ENEMY.”

The band’s video for “Sirens” pays homage to the video for Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” and was directed by Travis Schneider. The visual features various Massachusetts locals representing different sectors of the working class.

Dropkick Murphys have also announced March 14, 15, 16 and 17 as the Boston dates for their annual hometown Boston St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Celebration shows in 2025. Details and ticket info for these shows will be announced soon.

Check out the video for Sirens: HERE.

Ice Nine Kills share video for “A Work of Art” from the horror film ‘Terrifier 3’

Ice Nine Kills have today dropped the new single, “A Work of Art”, the official track for the horror film, Terrifier 3, which hit theaters over the weekend

Along with the single, Ice Nine Kills  released the 14-minute extended-cut of the accompanying music video for A Work of Art, directed by longtime collaborator Jensen Noen with special effects for the video created by Academy Award-winner Christopher Nelson. The video also stars David Howard Thornton (Terrifier’s infamous ‘Art the Clown’), Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Leah Voysey (Terrifier 2), and more, along with contributions from bassist Shavo Odadjian (‘System Of A Down’).

Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas says of the collaboration: “Creating a track for ‘Terrifier 3’ is like stepping into the ultimate horror playground. The film and our new single, “A Work of Art” reflect the same twisted, unrelenting energy that fans of both Ice Nine Kills and the Terrifier franchise thrive on. And having our music video play in theaters after the movie at special screenings last night was the ultimate honor and the best way to pay homage to the cinematic terror that has inspired me and this band. The extended cut of the video marks a new era of INK related terror, but what that means shall remain in my nightmares….for now. Psychos, we present to you what may well be our most glorious and goresome offering yet, sure to leave you both tongue-tied and terrified – “A Work of Art”.”

The full 14-minute extended cut video (featuring an extra 7 minutes of never-seen before footage) can be viewed HERE.

Charlie Hunnam to play serial killer Ed Gein in Season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monster’

Charlie Hunnam is the latest star of the next installment of Ryan Murphy’s Monster series. The ‘Sons of Anarchy’ actor, 44, is set to play the role of serial killer Ed Gein – often referred to as “the Butcher of Plainfield” – in the third season of the Netflix anthology series.  Netflix announced Hunnam’s casting on social media, as well as plans to start production next month. No other casting or premiere date have been announced yet.

Each season of the Monster franchise tackles a different true-crime story, with the first season debuting in 2022 regarding serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Season 2 just premiered last month, and focused on the infamous Menendez brothers, who were convicted of killing their parents in 1989, with the case becoming a media sensation in the 1990s when it went to trial.

According to Variety, Gein — who was from Wisconsin — became popular in the 1950s after he was found to have killed multiple people and dug up graves near his home. He then used the corpses to make household items and clothing. Convicted of murdering two women and suspected of killing seven others, Gein died in a psychiatric facility in 1984 at age 77.  He is also said to have inspired numerous horror movie villains including Norman Bates, Buffalo Bill and Leatherface.

Green Day release classic ‘Dookie’ tracks on random household objects for ‘Dookie Demastered’

Green Day’s iconic 1994 album Dookie is being celebrated in a very unusual way. Three decades since Green Day dropped their third studio album, the band is dropping Dookie Demastered,  in collaboration with BRAIN, in which each of the project’s 15 tracks have been incorporated into a series of random household objects.

A press release announcing the news reads: “Instead of smoothing out its edges and tweaking its dynamic ranges, this version of Dookie has been meticulously mangled to fit on formats with uncompromisingly low fidelity. The listening experience is unparalleled, sacrificing not only sonic quality, but also convenience, and occasionally entire verses. It’s Dookie, the way it was never meant to be heard.”

Items used on the Dookie Demastered tracks include a Teddy Ruxpin doll, a doorbell, a toothbrush and even an answering machine. The first-of-its-kind “demastered” version of the 1994 album is available in 15 different formats, each more unconventional and purposefully low-quality than the last.

Fans can “play” all 15 formats at a dedicated website, and even enter a drawing for a chance to buy the one-of-a-kind recordings in a drawing that ends on Friday (Oct. 11) at 11 a.m. ET. Per the website, “those deeply familiar with the originals may experience existential disquietude. Extended listening has been known to provoke rage-nausea in audiophiles.

Green Day have been celebrating the Dookie anniversary, as well as the 20th anniversary of American Idiot, on their Saviors stadium tour, which will hit Corona Capital stadium in Mexico City on Nov. 15.
