First authorized Fleetwood Mac documentary coming to Apple Original Films

Apple Original Films is developing the first authorized Fleetwood Mac documentary.  The documentary on the legendary group is being directed by has five-time Academy Award nominee winner Frank Marshall, who also directed the documentary films “The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”  and “The Beach Boys”.

Apple Original Films says that the film explores “how the band’s trials and tribulations, personal resilience, and musical dexterity combined to create songs that have stood the test of time and are enduring masterpieces. It will take fans through the highs and lows of their brilliant career, illuminating the exceptional ingredients each member brought to the band’s uncommon alchemy — a musical union that sold more than 220 million records worldwide.”

Director Marshall said in a press release“I am fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about. Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to merge their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own tale in real-time, which then became legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.”

Fleetwood Mac members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks all took part in the documentary, which reflects on Fleetwood Mac’s 50-plus-year history, including never-before-seen footage, new interviews, and archival interviews with the late Christine McVie.

U2 shares previously unreleased ‘Luckiest Man In The World’

U2 has released another previously unheard track, titled “Luckiest Man in the World.”

The song appears on the ‘How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ shadow album, How to Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb, which is now available now. The shadow album contains 10 previously unreleased tracks from the band’s archive, with the songs all coming from the original recording sessions for the band’s 11th studio album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. They previously released three of those tracks: “Happiness,” “Country Mile” and “Picture of You (X+Y).”

The Edge said of How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb“The sessions for ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ were such a creative period for the band, we were exploring so many song ideas in the studio. We were inspired to revisit our early music influences, and it was a time of deep personal introspection for Bono who was attempting to process – dismantle – the death of his father. For this anniversary edition I went into my personal archive to see if there were any unreleased gems and I hit the jackpot. We chose ten that really spoke to us. Although at the time we left these songs to one side, with the benefit of hindsight we recognize that our initial instincts about them being contenders for the album were right, we were onto something. What you’re getting on this shadow album is that raw energy of discovery, the visceral impact of the music, a sonic narrative, a moment in time, the exploration and interaction of four musicians playing together in a room… this is the pure U2 drop.”
