‘Moana 2’ tops weekend box office earning $135.5M in North America

The long-awaited sequel film Moana 2 topped the weekend box office, earning $135.5 million in receipts this weekend.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Moana 2 has earned $221 million since Thanksgiving Eve last Wednesday, and had the biggest five-day debut in history – and the best-ever Thanksgiving holiday weekend earnings (the previous five-day record-holder was 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie with $204.6 million).

Wicked came in at No. 2 with $80 million, followed by Gladiator II at No. 3 ($30.7 million), Red One at No. 4 ($12.9 million) and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at No. 5 ($3.3 million).

Rounding out the Top 10 were: Bonhoeffer at No. 6; Venom: The Last Dance at No. 7 ; Heretic at No. 8; The Wild Robot at No. 9; and A Real Pain at No. 10.

George Clooney to make Broadway debut in ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’

George Clooney will make his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck with performances beginning in previews on March 12, 2025 at the Winter Garden Theater stage, with an opening date of April 3.

The Winter Garden venue will be available as of January, with the recently-announced closing of the Back the the Future musical. When the production was announced in May, Clooney said, “I am honored, after all these years, to be coming back to the stage and especially, to Broadway, the art form and the venue that every actor aspires to.”

Clooney will portray Edward R. Murrrow, the journalist who challenges Senator Joseph McCarthy. An official synopsis reads: “As McCarthyism casts a shadow over America, Murrow and his team at CBS choose to confront the growing tide of paranoia and propaganda… Good Night, and Good Luck chronicles a time in American history when truth and journalistic integrity stood up to fearmongering and disinformation — and won.”

The stage play is co-written by Clooney and Grant Heslov, based on their screenplay for the 2005 film of the same name, which received six Academy Award nominations. Clooney portrayed Fred W. Friendly in the movie, and served as its director. David Cromer will directs the Broadway show, which officially opens April 3.

Fall Out Boy, The Killers to headline 2025 Innings Festival

Fall Out Boy and The Killers will headline the seventh annual Innings Festival 2025, returning to Arizona’s Tempe Beach Park & Arts Park on February 21 and 22, 2025  for two days of music and baseball-themed fun during Cactus League Spring Training season.

The festival is divided into two weekends, February 21-22 and February 28 – March 1. Fall Out Boy will headline the show on Friday, Feb. 21 while The Killers will headline on Saturday, Feb. 2 A social post read: “Introducing our 2025 All-Star Team 💫  🎫 Sign up at http://inningsfestival.com/innings for tickets”

Among the 18 artists appearing on the lineup for the festival includes Incubus, The Black Keys, Slightly Stoopid, The All-American Rejects, and more on Friday, while Beck, Gary Clark Jr., Boyz II Men, and Jack’s Mannequin among others will take the stage Saturday.

Fans can look forward to interactive baseball activities and numerous appearances by MLB greats Vince Coleman, Evan Longoria, Jim Abbott, Jake Peavy, Brett Butler, plus Olympic medalist and ESPN analyst Jessica Mendoza, and the return of Off the Mound with Ryan Dempster, featuring live interviews and special performances from surprise guests including artists from the festival lineup.

The 2024 edition of Innings Festival saw the rollout of a new festival called Extra Innings the following weekend. Extra Innings 2025 will be back on Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1.

Melissa Etheridge announces spring 2025 tour

Melissa Etheridge is set to launch a co-headlining tour with Joss Stone April 18 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and also has planned a series of solo dates, with ore dates “coming soon,” according to Etheridge’s Instagram.

Etheridge will hit the road on April 4th in Waterloo, NY, and will travel up and down the east coast hitting Huntington, NY, Wilmington, DE, Washington DC, and more before the start of her co-headlining tour on April 18th with Grammy-winning, singer/songwriter Joss Stone.

As previously reported, Melissa is featured in the new Max documentary Louder: The Soundtrack of Change, described as “a celebration of fearless women and their music that moved us.” Executive producer Selena Gomez says in the trailer, “A lot of women paved to way for us to be as loud and proud as possible,” with Melissa adding, “I have seen the world change and grow, but today, it seems like things are going backwards.”
