Apple Music and Metallica have announced an “immersive concert experience” film created for the Apple Vision Pro headset.

Simply titled “Metallica,” the Apple Immersive concert experience was filmed during the band’s final “M72” stop of 2024 in Mexico City, featuring full performances of “Whiplash”, “One” and “Enter Sandman”, all captured exclusively in Apple Immersive Video.  It will be available for free only on Apple Vision Pro starting March 14.  The songs featured in “Metallica” will also be available as a new EP, Metallica Live from Mexico City, in Spatial Audio on Apple Music this Friday.

Metallica said in a statement: “This project marks a new foray into immersive technology, using ultra-high-resolution 180-degree video and Spatial Audio to give fans unprecedented access from vantage points as close up as the Snake Pit to wide-angle views. It brings the live show to a whole new level, and to achieve this, Apple built a custom stage plot featuring 14 Apple Immersive Video cameras using a mix of stabilized cameras, cable-suspended cameras, and remote-controlled camera dolly systems that moved around the stage.”

The Black Keys drop new song, reveal ‘No Rain No Flowers’ tour dates

The Black Keys has announced the spring leg of their No Rain No Flowers Tour, kicking off on May 23rd in Oklahoma and hitting over a dozen iconic venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and The Greek Theatre before returning to Europe in July. The spring trek will feature support from Hermanos Gutiérrez and The Heavy Heavy on select dates.

The upcoming tour marks The Black Keys’ return to the road after they canceled a 2024 arena tour supporting their latest album, Ohio Players. The band, featuring guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, also revealed they are working on the follow-up to Ohio Players due later this year.

The Black Keys, featuring guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, also dropped their new track “The Night Before,” co-written by Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney along with Grammy Award-winning songwriter Daniel Tashian.  Said Auerbach: “It’s so groove-based. ‘The Night Before’ started with a chord progression that Daniel and I came up with and the rest just fell out. It was really collaborative and all came together in about 30 minutes. Adds Carney: “We’ve never really worked with songwriters like that in Nashville. It’s crazy because Daniel was one of the first people I met when I moved to town over a decade ago. But we pushed ourselves to bring in some new co-writers, and we really tapped into something cool with Daniel. We’re finishing up the album now and plan to release more tracks leading into the tour.”

Tickets for the No Rain No Flowers Tour are on sale via: TICKETMASTER.
