‘Slow Horses’ renewed at Apple TV+ for Season 7

Apple TV+ announced that Slow Horses has been renewed for Season 7. The news arrives ahead of the show’s Season 5 premiere, set for Sept. 24.

The dark comedy stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the head of a group of British intelligence agents.  Season 5 will see the group try to figure out the deal with Roddy Ho’s (Christopher Chung) “glamorous new girlfriend.”

The series, inspired by Mick Herron’s Slough House books, got the green light for Season 6 in October. Apple TV+ executive Jay Hunt in a statement: “Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action. I’m delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses’ slightly inept spycraft.”

Per an official release, “In Season 7, Lamb and his Slow Horses are on the hunt to find and neutralize a mole at the heart of British Government before they can bring down the state.”

Slow Horses also stars Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Samuel West, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Joanna Scanlan and Jonathan Pryce.  The series won its first Primetime Emmy Award in 2024 for ‘Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series,’ and was also nominated in four other categories.

Abigail Spencer joins Josh Charles in cast of Fox’s ‘Best Medicine’

Abigail Spencer will star alongside Josh Charles in the upcoming Fox medical comedy “Best Medicine,” based on the popular British series Doc Martin. Production will take place this summer in upstate New York.

The official description of the series states that “the series centers on Martin Best (Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, especially local school teacher Louisa Glasson (Spencer), however tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.”

Spencer’s character of Louisa Glasson was played by Caroline Catz in the British series, and appeared in all 10 seasons of the original series. Spencer is known for her roles across a wide variety of shows like “Suits,” “Rectify,” “Mad Men,” “True Detective,” “Timeless,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”  She recently wrapped production on “Clean Hands,” in which she will star opposite Zach Braff and Esther McGregor.

Megadeth announces final album and farewell tour

Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced that the band will release a final album, in addition to embarking on a farewell tour. The announcement included the cover artwork for the band’s final album, but not the title.

The album – marking the band’s 17th studio project – will be released via Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label early next year. The band will embark on a global farewell tour kicking off in 2026, with details to be announced later this year. More information on when preorders for the album will become available can be found at: www.megadeth.com.

In a video directly shared with his fans and “Cyber Army,” Mustaine shared the new via his alter ego ‘Vic Rattlehead’: “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional. Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them. We can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it’s now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album. We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years. We have done something together that’s truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.”

Megadeth was first formed in 1983, after Mustaine was fired from the original lineup of Metallica before the group released their debut album. Megadeth would go on to become one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time, releasing sixteen studio albums, five of which have gone platinum. Megadeth released their first album, Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good! in 1985, and they earned their first platinum album with the follow-up record Peace Sells … But Who’s Buying. Their most recent album, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart back in 2022.

Mustaine revealed in 2019 that he was diagnosed with throat cancer, and the following year said he was cancer-free. He has been Megadeth’s frontman, guitarist and primary songwriter — as well as the band’s only consistent member over the decades. Megadeth’s current lineup is comprised or Mustaine, alongside bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Mustaine also shared that he plans to release a new memoir in 2026.

Sarah McLachlan to release ‘Better Broken,’ her first album in over a decade

Sarah McLachlan will release Better Broken, her tenth studio album (and first album of new material in over a decade), due out September 19th. McLachlan wrote on social media: ‘I am so thrilled to finally be able to announce my new album Better Broken will be released on September 19!! This album was so much fun to make and producers Tony Berg, Will Maclellan and I had such an amazing joyful time building the songs together, I’ve never laughed so much in a recording studio. 😊

Better Broken takes its title from its opening track, and comes alongside the official music video, directed by Lauren Wade and produced by Zebulon Griffin.  McLachlan shared: “A lot of the lyrics on this record came from thinking about the world right now and asking, ‘How do we move through this landscape? How do we keep our heads above water when it feels like so much is falling apart?’ I don’t know if I have any answers, but channeling all that angst and uncertainty into the music has been so cathartic. I hope that this record provides people with some relief and release—but in the end I just want them to take whatever they need from it, and make the songs part of their own story.”

McLachlan also has dropped the second single from the upcoming LP, the song “Gravity”  — which “delves deeper into McLachlan’s emotional life and explores the complexities of her relationship with her older daughter.”  McLachlan shares of the song: “For a long time my daughter and I had a very combative and fraught relationship, and what I came to realize is that so much of what I perceived as obstinance or rage was actually masking a ton of anxiety on her part. We went to counseling together, and I learned that she felt so alone and unvalidated by me—which was devastating to hear, but it led us both to change the way we communicate with each other. I wrote ‘Gravity’ as a way of saying to her, ‘I’ve always loved you and want the best for you, and you’re perfect the way you are.’”

Heart add more dates to ‘Royal Flush Tour’ 2025

Heart has added more dates to their upcoming Royal Flush Tour 2025. The band previously announced summer dates, which kicked-off on Aug. 10 in San Francisco, with a final concert on Aug. 30 in Bethel, New York. The band’s Royal Flush tour was postponed from 2024 so singer Ann Wilson could receive preventative cancer treatment.

The new shows begin in mid-November and run through almost the end of the year, featuring two shows in Las Vegas on Nov. 14 and 15, as well as concerts in Seattle, Cincinnati and other cities before a final performance in Nashville on Dec. 21. While much of the summer tour dates include shows with Todd Rundgren, the fall concerts will feature frequent tourmates Cheap Trick in the opening slot.

Ann Wilson said in a press release announcing the new dates: “Heart personifies rock. Its history is incendiary. While some of the best musicians in the country have played in this band over the years, it has always remained up to the moment and true to itself. The music we are making at this moment has timeless teeth, muscle, bone and hair, also poetry, soul and emotion. I’m very proud to be a part of it all and I will give all of myself to it as long as we both shall live.”

Guitarist Nancy Wilson added: “This tour has been super exciting so far and it just keeps on expanding and enhancing as we go. Every generation has been showing up for the entirely live experience we bring to the stage. Covering everything from big rock energy to those intimate romantic songs we love, I like to say a Heart show is fun for the whole family.”
