The Cult reveal ‘Death Cult’ 2025 North American tour

The Cult will celebrate their earlier iteration, Death Cult and embark on a North American tour, featuring The Cult singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy.

Initially known as Death Cult when they formed in 1983, the British group shortened their name to The Cult in January 1984. In the mid-1980s, The Cult gained a strong following in the UK with a post-punk and gothic rock sound, exemplified by singles like “She Sells Sanctuary.”  In the late 1980s, they shifted towards a harder rock sound, breaking into the mainstream in the United States, largely influenced by producer Rick Rubin on their 1987 album Electric, which featured hits like “Love Removal Machine.”

Internal tensions and substance abuse issues led to a split in 1995; however, they reunited in 1999, before going on hiatus again in 2002. Upon reforming in 2006, they continued to tour and release new material – their most recent album, Under the Midnight Sun, dropped in 2022.

The group describe the upcoming trek as “a communal gathering of the tribes featuring sets from Death Cult and the Cult” in a press release.  The three-week tour begins on Oct. 9 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and concludes on Oct. 30 in Los Angeles. Special guests on the trek will be the Los Angeles band Patriarchy. The shows will feature one set as Death Cult, and one as The Cult.

Take a listen to SHINEDOWN’s ‘Killing Fields’

Shinedown have released new song “Killing Fields,” their third single of 2025 following “Dance, Kid, Dance” and “Three Six Five.”

The band posted on Instagram: “KILLING FIELDS. OUT NOW. Favorite lyric? Thoughts? Feelings? Emotions??? Leave a comment down below ⬇

Says frontman Brent Smith: “‘Killing Fields’ is not a song that has one specific meaning. The subject matter in this song cannot be prioritized to one specific opinion. The audience is the BOSS, and they should have the freedom to interpret it the way they hear it, feel it, and experience it. What I will say is that the song is meant to push you, to inspire you to think for yourself, and ask questions. We all know we are living in complicated times… The true question is, how will you respond.”

Shinedown kicked off the summer leg of their 2025 tour on July 19th at TD Garden in Boston featuring support from Bush and Morgan Wade, and will wrap up their run August 30th with a final gig at the FedExForum in Memphis

ABC suspends ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ indefinitely regarding Charlie Kirk shooting comments

ABC’s late-night talk show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ has been suspended indefinitely following Kimmel’s comments on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

During his Monday, Sept. 15 episode, Kimmel said the following: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

After Kimmel’s comments about Kirk’s assassination came under harsh criticism from the head of the Federal Communications Commission, Walt Disney-owned ABC said on Wednesday, Sept. 17, that it will indefinitely stop airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! A spokesperson for the network said in a statement: “‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ will be pre-empted indefinitely.”

The drastic move came after FCC chair Brendan Carr threatened to take action against ABC affiliates in the wake of Kimmel suggesting the Kirk shooting suspect was a MAGA Republican during a monologue earlier this week.

Nexstar Media Group Inc. had stated earlier on Wednesday that it would stop airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! on its 32 ABC affiliates. Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said: “Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located. Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, writing, “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT”

Paramount+ shares trailer for ‘Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now’ documentary

The feature-length documentary Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now will premiere on Paramount+  on Tuesday, October 7th.

The documentary, directed by Tania Alexander, was produced in collaboration with the Osbourne family. THe film chronicles Osbourne‘s six-year struggle to recuperate from a devastating 2019 fall; it is described as “an intimate look into the 76-year-old rock legend’s personal life since the injury that has colored much of his life in the years since.” Osbourne announced in 2023 that he had been forced to permanently cancel the European leg of his No More Tours II outing and retire from touring after a series of health problems which he damaged his spine. That incident was followed by diagnoses of Parkinson’s disease, and emphysema.

A press release stated: “This is Ozzy Osbourne like you’ve never seen before: an honest, warm and deeply personal portrait of one of the greatest rock stars of all-time, detailing how the singer’s world shuddered to a halt six years ago, forcing him to contemplate who he really is, confront his own mortality and question whether or not he can ever perform on stage for one last time. Addressing his health issues and impact of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, the film showcases the central role music continues to play in Ozzy’s life – also proving his mischievous sense of humor remains resolutely intact despite it all.”

Ozzy: No Escape From Now also documents his journey to play the Back To The Beginning show at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5, 2025. The documentary was in production prior to his death, and was never intended to be released posthumously (Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025). According to a press release, director Alexander began filming the doc in 2022, during recording sessions for Ozzy’s Patient Number 9 album. Ozzy said: “My fans have supported me for so many years, and I really want to thank them and say a proper goodbye to them. That is what the Villa Park show is about…The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through. There’s been times when I thought my number was up. But making music and making two albums saved me. I’d have gone nuts without music.”

The documentary will also feature Ozzy’s wife/manager Sharon Osbourne and the couple’s children: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. In addition, many of the singer’s friends and bandmates are featured, including: Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ozzy’s longstanding guitarist Zakk Wylde, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Mike Inez (Alice In Chains), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), producer Andrew Watt, and friend/musician Billy Morrison.

Sharon Osbourne shared: “This film is an honest account of what has happened to Ozzy during the last few years. It shows how hard things have been for him and the courage he has shown while dealing with a number of serious health issues, including Parkinson’s. It’s about the reality of his life now. We have worked with a production team we trust and have allowed them the freedom to tell the story openly. We hope that story will inspire people that are facing similar issues to Ozzy.”

Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood appear on the soundtrack ‘SpinalTap II: The End Continues’

Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood all appear on “The End Continues,” the soundtrack to the sequel film “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.”

The album was released in conjunction with the movie’s debut and features nine all-new songs, as well as four new takes on classic Spinal Tap tracks. The 13-track set includes nine brand new songs and four reinvented favorites.

Elton John contributes to two songs on the album, including the band’s popular cut, “Stonehenge.” “Stonehenge” was originally released on the group’s first album, This Is Spinal Tap, alongside the initial 1984 film, directed by Rob Reiner. In the cult classic, Spinal Tap orders a massive, 18-foot replica of the Stonehenge but instead receives an 18-inch one.

The reimagined rendition of “Stonehenge” arrives alongside a music video, in which John appears after the song’s opening monologue, as he rises from below the stage at a piano to perform the most of the lead vocals. See the video of ‘Stonehenge’ – HERE.

Hollywood legend Robert Redford dies at age 89

Legendary actor, director and environmentalist Robert Redford has died at the age of 89.

Publicist Cindi Berger, Chairman and CEO of Rogers and Cowan PMK, confirmed the news of Redford’s passing in a statement to The New York Times and CNN: “Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah–the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy.”

Redford Starred in such movies as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Way We Were and All the President’s Men, and won an Academy Award for directing Ordinary People. The four-time Academy Award nominee and honorary Oscar recipient, was also the founder of the Sundance Film Festival.

Redford just recently reflected on his career in an Instagram post on his birthday, Aug. 18, writing: “Firstly, I want to thank my fans been with me through every step, from Butch Cassidy to Ordinary People, and your support has meant the world. Your love for my work keeps me grounded and grateful .. Breaking out in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was huge my BAFTA win showed I could hold my own. Directing Ordinary People and winning an Oscar for Best Director was a dream come true. Founding the Sundance Institute in 1981, sparking the indie film movement, remains my proudest achievement .. Honors like the Presidential Medal of Freedom and my Time 100 nod reflect a life of storytelling and advocacy. Growing up working-class in Santa Monica, I faced setbacks flunking out of college, losing my mom young. I hustled through small TV roles, learned on Broadway, and took risks directing and building Sundance. Personal losses, like my son Scott’s death, taught me resilience. It was grit, passion, and a love for art that got me here .. I’m thrilled my films, from The Sting to A River Runs Through It, have moved you, sparked conversations, or brought comfort. Sundance has given new filmmakers a voice, and my environmental work has inspired some to care for our planet. Your support makes it all worthwhile, thank you for being part of my journey.”

Redford shares four children with his ex-wife Lola Van Wagenen: Scott (who died just two months after his birth in 1959 from SIDS), Shauna, James and Amy. Redford went on to marry Sibylle Szaggars in 2009.

Redford is survived by his wife, daughters Shauna and Amy and grandchildren.
