Simple Minds to release ‘Once Upon a Time’ 40th anniversary box set

Simple Minds are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their seventh album from 1985 Once Upon A Time with a new, expanded five-CD Deluxe Edition.

Dropping Oct. 17, the five-CD box set is a cut-down version of the super deluxe edition released in 2016. The 40th anniversary edition will include the original album, as well as bonus discs featuring new and extended mixes, B-sides, single edits and rare tracks. It also includes a two-CD concert, Live in the City of Light, recorded in Paris in 1986, and a 36-page book with rare photos and interviews with Simple Minds founding members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill. In addition to the CD set, the album is being released on ruby red vinyl, which will feature the addition of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” for the first time.

Released in October 1985, Once Upon A Time arrived just months after the soundtrack single “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” hit No. 1 in the U.S. thanks to its inclusion in the movie The Breakfast Club. The album became the Scottish band’s only Top 10 LP in the United States after its release, with three of its singles making the Top 40: “Sanctify Yourself,” “All the Things She Said” and “Alive and Kicking,” which peaked at No. 3.

Simple Minds wrapped their North American Alive & Kicking tour, and later kicked-off a U.K. tour in Glasgow, Scotland where they play Once Upon A Time in its entirety.

Sublime release video for “Ensenada,” first new song with Jakob Nowell

Sublime has released the single “Ensenada” which marks the first new original song with Jakob Nowell on lead vocals — having assumed lead duties for the project in memory of his late father, Bradley Nowell.

A social media post reads: “The Wait is Over ☀ “Ensenada”— brand new music from Sublime—is live now. Raw, real, and reckless. I declare you’re stoked 🤙 Listen now at the link in our bio 🔗🏝

“Ensenada” is the first song shared from Sublime’s upcoming studio album, which will be the first full record with Jakob, alongside Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson.

Said Jakob in a statement: “’Ensenada’ and the new music we’re working on is inspired by old Sublime material. You can’t match something from that 90s era – it was such a moment in time. This feels like an epilogue, a thank you to all of the fans and everyone who’s supported Sublime. Our goal with ‘Ensenada’ was not to replicate anything, but from my perspective it’s more like a tribute to my uncles Bud and Eric and the inspiration they give me. It’s organic and we have a good time. We did a bunch of jams, dove into the old catalog, and the more it felt like fun—throwing it all together and seeing what sticks—the more we knew that was the right move. Creating genuine music that reflects your life and times… people tap into that, and then you look around and realize, wow, look at all the love we’ve found.”

Sex Pistols cancel 2025 North American tour due to guitarist’s injury

The Sex Pistols have canceled their 2025 North American tour due to guitarist Steve Jones breaking his wrist. The performances will be postponed and rescheduled once Jones has fully recovered.

The tour was set to be the band’s first extended U.S. run since 2003, and featured original members Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook, alongside vocalist Frank Carter (in place of frontman John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon). The group was set to perform the iconic 1977 album, Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, in its entirety and more music in celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary.

Jones said in a statement: “I’ve got some good news and bad news. What do you want first? Okay, the bad news: I’ve broken my wrist, so unfortunately, we won’t be doing any shows for a while. The good news is the surgeon said I will be back playing guitar in the not-too-distant future. The other good news is I’ll be 70 tomorrow! God bless, and God save the wrist.”

The band added: “The performances will be postponed and rescheduled when Steve has fully recovered. Please check local venue websites and our social media for more information. We appreciate your understanding and support.”

Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut ‘Eleanor The Great’ to be released this fall

Sony Pictures Classics has announced the Sept. 26 release date for Eleanor the Great, marking actress Scarlett Johansson‘s directorial debut.

Eleanor the Great stars June Squibb as the title character Eleanor Morgenstein, a 90-year-old woman trying to rebuild her life after the death of her best friend. The film also stars Erin Kellyman, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jessica Hecht.

The film debuted at Cannes Film Festival in its Un Certain Regard section, earning a five-minute standing ovation. Johansson called screening the film at Cannes a “dream come true,” adding: “When you make a film that’s an independent film like this, no one’s doing it for the money — surprise, surprise. Really, everyone that came together for this film came together because they loved the story, the script so much. It’s a film about many things: it’s about friendship, it’s about grief, it’s about forgiveness. And I think those are all themes that we can use a lot more of these days.”

Season 3 of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head revival will premiere on Comedy Central Sept. 3.

The first two seasons of the revival debuted on Paramount+, but now the revival’s third season (and the show’s eleventh season overall) will be airing on Comedy Central going forward.

Judge brought Beavis and Butt-Head back in 2022 with the movie Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe and two seasons of new episodes. The first two seasons and movie premiered on Paramount+ before episodes later aired on Comedy Central.

In the Season 3 trailer, Beavis and Butt-Head get a shoutout from Metallica before the pair ask how much it would cost to buy the band. They then nail James Hetfield in the head with a gold bar. As middle-aged men, Beavis gets a chest tattoo that reads “Dumbass” which Butt-Head reads it in the mirror as “sad mud.” Later, Beavis hurts his neck banging his head and asks, “Why did we used to do that?” See the Season 3 trailer – HERE.
