Sandra Bernhard, Helena Bonham Carter, Chris Messina join ‘White Lotus’ Season 4

A new guest has checked into The White Lotus. Sandra Bernhard has officially joined the cast of the HBO anthology’s upcoming fourth season, which will unfold in France.

Bernhard confirmed the news herself on Instagram, writing, “Heading to France this summer. What a delight.” The actor joins an ensemble that already includes Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina and AJ Michalka. HBO Max previously revealed the casting news on X, posting in the caption: “Reservations confirmed. Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, and AJ Michalka are headed to #TheWhiteLotus.”

As with most seasons of the series, details about the characters and storyline are being kept tightly under wraps while creator Mike White finalizes the cast. Production is expected to take place largely at Château de La Messardière, a historic 19th-century palace that now operates as a luxury hotel in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera. Reports indicate the story may also expand beyond the resort to locations across the Riviera and Paris, with the Cannes Film Festival potentially playing a role in the plot. Notably, this will be the first season not filmed at a Four Seasons property; earlier installments were set at resorts in Hawaii, Italy and Thailand.

The Emmy-winning drama follows wealthy travelers and hotel staff at the fictional White Lotus resort chain, where tensions rise among guests and employees before a mysterious death eventually comes to light. The series has become one of HBO’s most decorated hits, earning 16 Emmy wins and a total of 66 nominations. White writes, directs and executive produces alongside David Bernad and Mark Kamine.

Bernhard brings decades of experience to the cast, with more than 100 acting credits. She is widely recognized for roles in The King of Comedy, Hudson Hawk and Without You I’m Nothing, as well as for playing Nancy Bartlett Thomas on Roseanne and Nurse Judy Kubrak on the FX drama Pose. Her recent work includes appearances in Marty Supreme and the Apple TV+ series Severance, where she portrayed a formidable scientist late in Season 2.

Paul McCartney to release 18th solo LP ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane’ and shares lead single

Paul McCartney has returned with new music, debuting the new single Days We Left Behind as the first preview of his upcoming 18th solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The project—his first since McCartney III in 2020—is set to arrive this spring, after more than five years in development.

The 14-track album centers on McCartney’s early life in Liverpool, drawing heavily from personal memories of growing up in working-class neighborhoods like Speke, as well as reflections on his formative years before global fame. The title itself references a local route tied to his childhood and is pulled directly from a lyric in the lead single.

In discussing the song Days We Left Behind, McCartney shares: “This is very much a memory song for me. The album title, ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane,’ comes from a lyric in this track. I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I’m just writing about the past but then I think how can you write about anything else? It’s just a lot of memories of Liverpool. It involves a bit in the middle about John and Forthlin Road which is the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is near there. I used to live in a place called Speke which is quite working class. We didn’t have much at all but it didn’t matter because all the people were great and you didn’t notice you didn’t have much.”

Produced by Andrew Watt, the album blends styles from across his long career, and also includes more personal material, with some songs inspired by his relationship with his wife, Nancy Shevell. The album announcement also came just ahead of a pair of intimate live performances from McCartney in Los Angeles, marking his first shows of 2026 (following the conclusion of his Got Back tour last year.)

Alice Cooper announces new memoir ‘Devil On My Shoulder’ and U.K. book tour

Rock icon Alice Cooper is preparing to share the story behind his legendary career with a new memoir titled Devil On My Shoulder, scheduled for release October 6 in the United States through Hachette Book Group; and October 8 in the United Kingdom via Ebury Spotlight.

Born Vincent Damon Furnier, Cooper first rose to fame in the late 1960s as the frontman of the band Alice Cooper before eventually adopting the name as his own. Over time, his dramatic stage character — complete with horror imagery and shock-rock theatrics — became inseparable from his real-life identity.

The memoir explores that duality, contrasting the wild stage persona with the sober and deeply religious man behind the scenes. Throughout the book, Cooper also reflects on the highs and struggles of a six-decade career that produced more than 30 albums and influenced generations of rock performers. Along the way, the musician recounts encounters with a wide range of cultural figures, including John Lennon, Salvador Dalí, Frank Sinatra, Andy Warhol and Vincent Price.

Cooper described the memoir as a long-overdue attempt to separate fact from fiction surrounding the theatrical persona that helped define his career, saying: “I’ve written this book to track Alice’s ‘evilution’, and how I’ve tamed him at last. Just as he and I became almost fatally intertwined, the story of Alice Cooper after over thirty records and sixty-plus years has become a tangle of embellishments, elaborations and outright fabrications, and I think it’s time to sort reality from myth.”

Along with detailing the autobiography’s release, Cooper has announced a UK book tour consisting of eight dates running from October 11th in Cardiff through October 20th in Wolverhampton. Each ticket comes with a copy of the book, with a signup for pre-sales at this location.

Fans can also catch the shock-rock pioneer back on stage during his spring U.S. concert run, which begins April 14 in San Antonio and wraps May 9 in Camden.

Devil on My Shoulder will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook., with pre-orders available via Amazon. Preorder the memoir: HERE.

Savannah Guthrie speaks out on mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in first televised interview

“TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has opened up for the first time since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home in the early hours of Feb. 1, sharing an emotional and deeply personal account of the ongoing ordeal.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen the evening of Jan. 31 after being dropped home following dinner with family. When she failed to appear at a church gathering the next day, loved ones grew alarmed. What initially seemed like a possible medical emergency quickly escalated when authorities discovered signs of a struggle, including blood on her porch, and began treating the case as a suspected abduction.

In a candid interview with her former co-host and close friend Hoda Kotb, Guthrie described the investigation’s surveillance images as “absolutely terrifying,” adding, “I can’t imagine that that is who she saw standing over her bed. I can’t. It’s too much.”

Guthrie recalled the moment she learned her mother was missing. A frantic call from her sister shattered what had been an ordinary day. At first, the family assumed a health issue, noting Nancy’s limited mobility and chronic pain. “She can’t wander off,” Guthrie explained, emphasizing that her mother would not have left on her own.

Her brother, drawing on his military experience, quickly feared the worst. Guthrie remembered asking him, “Do you think because of me?” referring to her public profile. His response — “I’m sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe,” — has weighed heavily on her ever since.  Guthrie said through tears, “I’m so sorry, Mommy, I’m so sorry,” and also apologized to her siblings and extended family. “If it is me, I’m so sorry.” Still, she stressed the painful uncertainty surrounding the case: “Honestly, we don’t know anything.”

Investigators have released images of a masked individual seen near the home, but no suspect has been identified. Authorities cleared family members early in the investigation, dismissing speculation Guthrie called “unbearable.” She firmly defended her loved ones, saying no one cared for or protected her mother more. In the weeks following the disappearance, multiple ransom notes surfaced. Guthrie said many appear to be hoaxes, though she believes a couple may be legitimate. “A person that would send a fake ransom note has to look deeply at themselves,” she said.

Guthrie shared that she wakes each night imagining her mother’s fear. “I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night,” she said. “And in the darkness, I imagine her terror… and it is unthinkable.” Despite the anguish, the family continues to hope. They have offered a $1 million reward and are urging anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward. In a public message, they asked the community to revisit memories, messages, or surveillance footage from the days surrounding the disappearance, emphasizing, “No detail is too small. It may be the key … We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home — hope against hope.”

Guthrie expressed gratitude for law enforcement’s efforts, but also made clear that her family cannot find peace without answers. She also offered a direct appeal to whoever may be responsible: “Someone can do the right thing, and it is never too late to do the right thing.”

As the search continues, Guthrie and her family hold on to hope while navigating an unthinkable reality. Law enforcement asks anyone with information to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (520-351-4900) or 88-CRIME.

The Kennedy Center announces that Bill Maher will be awarded Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

The Kennedy Center has announced that comedian and political commentator Bill Maher will be honored with the 27th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, settling recent public disagreement over whether he would be receiving the award. Maher is set to accept the prize on June 28, shortly before the venue temporarily closes for major renovations expected to last about two years.

The announcement comes after White House officials had previously dismissed reports of Maher’s selection, calling it “fake news.” He has often clashed with President Trump, though he also attended a private White House dinner in March 2025. Last month, Trump criticized Maher on social media, calling him “this jerk” and saying it “was a total waste of time” to host him. The Kennedy Center, now governed by a board aligned with Pres. Trump, has undergone leadership changes and remains at the center of ongoing legal disputes tied to its restructuring and planned closure.

Maher, known for his sharp political satire, joked that he “just had the award explained to me, and apparently it’s like an Emmy, except I win.”  He added that it is “humbling to get anything named for a man who’s been thrown out of as many school libraries as Mark Twain,” a writer long known for challenging social norms.

Roma Daravi, the Kennedy Center’s vice president of public relations, shared in a statement: “For nearly three decades, the Mark Twain Prize has celebrated some of the greatest minds in comedy. For even longer, Bill has been influencing American discourse — one politically incorrect joke at a time.”

The Mark Twain Prize, first established in 1998, honors individuals who have made a significant impact on American humor and commentary, echoing the spirit of Samuel Clemens, a.k.a. Mark Twain. Past recipients include David Letterman, Carol Burnett, Conan O’Brien, Dave Chappelle, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Tina Fey.

Rush has announced an extension of their “Fifty Something” tour into 2027, bringing their 50th-anniversary celebration to South America, the United Kingdom, and Europe – including two nights at London’s O2 Arena. The dates will be the first time Rush has played in Europe since 2013, and 17 years since visiting South America.

Rush initially announced dates in seven major North American cities, with all the dates in the US and Canada immediately selling out.  The tour then expanded to 58+ shows in North America due to popular demand. The tour is set to kick-off June 7 with a pair of shows in Los Angeles, and includes stops in Mexico City, Fort Worth, Chicago, New York and Toronto. Each performance will feature two sets. New dates were added, featuring stops in cities including Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Edmonton, Seattle, Vancouver, and more.

Co-founders Geddy Lee (bass, keys, vocals) and Alex Lifeson (guitar, vocals) will be joined by former Jeff Beck drummer, composer, and producer Anika Nilles to take on the role formerly held by the band’s late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. The band also announced that they will be joined by keyboard player Loren Gold. The new run of shows mark the first time Lee and Lifeson have toured together in eleven years, since the finale of Rush’s “R40” Tour on August 1, 2015.

Lee shared in a statement: “We can’t wait to get back to all these cities we haven’t played in so long, as well as hitting some new places we’ve yet to play. Both Alex and I are loving the hours of rehearsal time we’re spending with Anika and now Loren, learning around 40 songs which will enable us to keep the shows evolving, playing some different songs on different nights. We are thrilled that many of our longstanding crew have come back to help us design the kind of Rush show that fans have grown accustomed to expecting from us. We dearly hope you will come along and help us celebrate 50 years of Rush music, while giving Neil the long overdue tribute he so richly deserves.”

Netflix reveals that ‘Bridgerton’ Season 5 will focus on Francesca and Michaela

Netflix has officially kicked off production on Bridgerton Season 5, confirming that the story will center on Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and her evolving relationship with Michaela Stirling, portrayed by Masali Baduza.

According to the streaming service, the new season follows Francesca as she attempts to move forward two years after the loss of her husband, John Stirling. As Netflix described: “Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons.” However, her plans become complicated when Michaela returns to London, stirring unexpected emotions and forcing Francesca to choose between logic and desire.

The storyline builds directly on events from Season 4, where viewers saw John’s death and the early groundwork laid for Francesca’s connection with Michaela—who was reimagined from Michael in Julia Quinn’s original novels. Their relationship will now take center stage, marking a major shift for the series.

Showrunner Jess Brownell has hinted that this installment will lean heavily into emotional longing, describing it as a season defined by “yearning.” She also emphasized its significance, noting that while queer love stories have been told before, making one the focal point of an entire Bridgerton season is a meaningful step forward.

Since debuting, Bridgerton has followed a rotating format, with each season spotlighting a different sibling’s journey to love—from Daphne and Simon in Season 1 to Anthony and Kate in Season 2, and Colin and Penelope in Season 3. Despite occasional changes to the book order, the long-term goal remains to explore all eight siblings’ stories.

Season 5 will also see the return of familiar faces, including Adjoa Andoh, Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Ruth Gemmell, Luke Newton, and Golda Rosheuvel, with narration once again provided by Julie Andrews.

Stephen Colbert to co-write new ‘Lord of the Rings’ film

Stephen Colbert is stepping into an unexpected new role: co-writer of an upcoming Lord of the Rings movie. The project, announced by Warner Bros., brings together Colbert, his son Peter McGee, and longtime franchise writer Philippa Boyens to craft a story drawn from parts of J.R.R. Tolkien’s original novel that never made it to the screen.

The news was revealed in a playful video featuring director Peter Jackson, who also offered an update on the franchise’s next release, Andy Serkis’ The Hunt for Gollum, currently in development and slated for 2027. Jackson then introduced his “very special partner” for the following installment—Colbert himself, appearing via video call. A lifelong Tolkien enthusiast, Colbert explained that his film will expand on early sections of The Fellowship of the Ring that were left out of the original trilogy.

Working closely with McGee and Boyens over the past two years, Colbert helped shape the concept into a full screenplay. The film, tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: Shadow(s) of the Past, is designed to connect seamlessly with Jackson’s original trilogy while telling a new, self-contained story.

According to the official description, the narrative is set years after the original saga. It follows Sam, Merry, and Pippin as they revisit the earliest moments of their adventure after Frodo’s passing. At the same time, Sam’s daughter Elanor uncovers a hidden mystery tied to the War of the Ring—one that nearly changed the fate of Middle-earth before the quest even began.

This marks Colbert’s first major step into blockbuster filmmaking, though his connection to the franchise runs deep. He previously made a cameo in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and has frequently celebrated Tolkien’s world on his late-night show, including parody sketches and cast reunions.

The Lord of the Rings film series remains one of the most acclaimed in cinematic history, with Jackson’s original trilogy earning 17 Academy Awards, including 11 for The Return of the King.
