Paramount+ will livestream Metallica’s Helping Hands Concert and Auction on Friday, December 16th. For the first time, the event will take place in Los Angeles, with Jimmy Kimmel serving as host.

Metallica said in a statement on Instagram: “We’re looking forward to celebrating the achievements of All Within My Hands in our final show of the year, the Helping Hands Concert & Auction at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Friday, December 16. This will be the third time we hit the stage to benefit the Foundation, but the very first time that it will be streamed live with a full audience, thanks to our friends at Paramount+ … In another first, we’re also honored to announce that Jimmy Kimmel will be joining us to host the show! Make sure to tune in early as it all kicks off at 5:30 pm PST streaming live on Paramount+ and simulcast on Pluto and MTV’s YouTube channel. Don’t miss the special guests and presentations, Greta Van Fleet’s set, and a few surprises before we hit the stage … We’ll also have some amazing items and experiences that will be auctioned off starting December 5 to benefit the Foundation, with one hundred percent of ticket and auction proceeds going directly to those in need.”

Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation was established in 2017 as a way for the band to give back to communities that have supported them. All Within My Hands’ expenses are covered entirely by the band, the board, and friends who have worked with the band over many years, with 100% of proceeds go directly to help those in need. To date, All Within My Hands has donated over $5.8 million.

Metallica’s previous Helping Hands Concert & Auction raised more than $1.8 million. Those funds are used towards working with partners at Feeding America and the American Association of Community Colleges, as well as various COVID and disaster relief efforts.

Neal Schon sues bandmate Jonathan Cain over Journey credit card

Journey’s Neal Schon is suing bandmate Jonathan Cain, claiming he “improperly restricted” access to financial documents relating to Journey’s American Express card. Schon’s lawyers argued in court documents filed in Northern California’s Contra Costa County that “This action is brought to turn the lights on, so to speak, and obtain critical financial information Schon has been trying to obtain but has been denied”

Both Schon and Cain are joint owners, members and managers of Nomota, LLC, which was established around 1998 as the operating entity to handle Journey’s business dealings, with shared 50/50 ownership. In the lawsuit, Schon states he “has the right to access and control Nomota’s books and records” and have “unfetted access to Nomota’s records so that he can oversee and manage Nomota/Journey.” Cain later set up Nomota’s American Express account “without Schon’s consent or knowledge, with only Cain as the account holder.” The filing also says that “Schon has tried to avoid legal action, repeatedly requesting that Cain grant him access to the AMEX account. For many months, Cain and his representatives have represented that Schon would be granted access. But every time Schon contacted AMEX, AMEX informed him that he was still not authorized to access AMEX account records.”

Schon’s lawyers also make additional allegations about Cain that they say are detrimental to Journey’s continuing business. “Cain is interfering with Journey, refusing to respond to booking opportunities, blocking payment to band members, crew and vendors, refusing to execute necessary operating documents, and in other ways as well,” the filing claims. “Cain has obstructed Schon from viewing expenses incurred by Cain and his touring party on band tours .. Cain has further refused to deal with critical, time-sensitive touring contracts for Journey’s 2023 tour and ensure payment for band members and crew, who Cain contends are ‘non-essential … Schon believes those band and crew who are crucial to the band’s success should be paid. Cain’s conduct is inexplicable.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 3.

Roger Waters shares new version of classic ‘Comfortably Numb 2022’

Roger Waters has released “Comfortably Numb 2022,” a new version of Pink Floyd’s iconic track from 1979’s ‘The Wall.’  Waters in a statement: “During Lockdown I made a demo of a new version of ‘Comfortably Numb’ as an opener for our new show ‘This Is Not A Drill.’ I pitched it a whole step down, in A Minor, to make it darker and arranged it with no solos, except over the outro chord sequence, where there is a heartrendingly beautiful female vocal solo from Shanay Johnson, one of our new singers.”

“Comfortably Numb 2022” was recorded during the U.S. leg of Waters’ This Is Not A Drill Tour, and was produced by Waters and Gus Seyffert, who also contributes bass, synth, and percussion on the track. Additional featured musicians include vocalists Dave Kilminster, Shanay Johnson and Amanda Belair, drummer Joey Warner, Jonathan Wilson on harmonium, synth, guitar, and vocals, Jon Carin on synth and vocals, Robert Walter on organ and piano, and Nigel Godrich on strings and backing vocals.

“Comfortably Numb 2022” runs exactly two and a half minutes longer than the original, which was six minutes and 22 seconds in length. Waters’ nearly nine-minute version is accompanied by a video, which you can take a look at – here.
