Jessica Simpson celebrates four years of sobriety with candid photo on social media

Jessica Simpson shared a candid photo of herself from four years ago on social media depicting her first day without alcohol, and detailed in an honest, emotional post the way she felt that day as she began her journey to sobriety.

The 41-year-old Simpson wrote on Instagram: “This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself. I had so much self-discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self-respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity. Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted. I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor. I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.”  Simpson added, “There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic. The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self-sabotage. The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do. I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.”

In January 2020, Simpson opened up about her alcoholism in her memoir Open Book, saying she hit “rock bottom”on Halloween 2017 — a day where she recounts “zoning out” from drinking and was unable to dress her kids.  She wrote in her memoir: “I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape. I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who got them into their costumes that night.”  The next day she confided in her friends, saying: “I need to stop. Something’s got to stop. And if it’s alcohol that’s doing this and making things worse, then I quit.”

Zayn Malik pleads no contest to charges of harassment against ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid and her mother Yolanda

Singer Zayn Malik pleaded no contest to charges of harassment against his ex-girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid, and her mother, Yolanda Hadid.  Earlier this week it was reported that Gigi Hadid, 26, and Malik, 28, had ended their on-again-off-again relationship.

Citing legal documents, the charges stem from a Sept. 29 incident at the couple’s Pennsylvania home where he allegedly shoved Yolanda Hadid into a dresser and screamed profanity at her before trying to fight a security guard.  Malik, a former member of One Direction, took to Twitter to deny allegations he struck Yolanda Hadid. He said he was working toward “a safe and private space” for Khai, the 13-month-old daughter he shares with Gigi. Malik said in the statement: “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”

Malik entered the no contest plea on Wednesday, meaning Malik does not admit guilt but will allow the charges to stick. He’s agreed to serve 360 days of probation in addition to completing anger management and domestic violence programs. A representative for Gigi Hadid said in a statement “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”

Kiss cancel their upcoming Las Vegas residency

KISS have canceled their upcoming Las Vegas residency that was set to begin in December. Ticketmaster notified ticket holders of the 12-date residency’s cancellation via email, and the Zappos Theater confirmed on Twitter, “Unfortunately, KISS cancelled their residency.” KISS has not commented on the residency’s cancellation; however sources cite “soft ticket sales” — not Covid-related matters — as the reason behind the cancellation.

Despite taking precautions against COVID-19, including receiving vaccinations, members of KISS and their road crew — including Simmons and Paul Stanley — still tested positive during their subsequent tour. The band’s longtime guitar tech Fran Stueber died two days after testing positive for Covid-19; Stueber was quarantining in a Detroit hotel room at the time of his death. KISS said in a statement: “Our End of the Road World Tour absolutely had Covid safety protocols in place that met, but most often exceeded, federal, state, and local guidelines. But ultimately this is still a global pandemic and there is simply no foolproof way to tour without some element of risk.”
