Volbeat sets record with their 13th No. 1 Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, ‘Demonic Depression’

Danish rock powerhouse Volbeat has added another milestone to its already impressive résumé. The group’s latest single, “Demonic Depression,” has climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, marking their 13th leader overall.

Currently made up of frontman Michael Poulsen, drummer Jon Larsen, bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen, and guitarist Flemming C Lund, the group is gearing up to launch the next European leg of their “Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide.”

That achievement further cements Volbeat’s standing as the most successful non–North American act in the chart’s history. Their recent run has been especially strong, following back-to-back chart-toppers “Time Will Heal” and “By a Monster’s Hand.” All three tracks appear on their ninth studio album, God of Angels Trust, released last June.

The band first set its record for the most Mainstream Rock No. 1s by an international act in 2020 with “Die To Live,” a collaboration with Neil Fallon. With their latest win, they now tie for the sixth-most No. 1 hits since the chart launched in 1981, alongside rock heavyweights like Van Halen, Godsmack, Disturbed, Linkin Park, and Papa Roach.

Volbeat has built a formidable career, earning more than 145 gold and platinum certifications worldwide, scored 19 top-10 hits on Mainstream Rock radio, and even picked up a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance nomination for “Room 24,” featuring King Diamond.
