R. Kelly found guilty on all charges of racketeering in sex trafficking case

R. Kelly was convicted by a federal jury on Monday of racketeering in his sex trafficking trial. Kelly was found guilty of charges including sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, racketeering and sex trafficking involving five victims. He faces a possible sentence of 10 years to life in prison.

Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York successfully proved to a jury of seven men and five women that Kelly was a predator and the head of a criminal enterprise, whose purpose was to lure girls, boys and women to the R&B singer for his sexual gratification. Prosecutors portrayed Kelly as a predator who over a quarter-century subjected his victims to violent physical and sexual abuse, some of which he recorded.

In addition to awaiting sentencing on the case in NY, Kelly will face a second federal trial on charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice in Illinois. Some of those accusations are related to a 2008 child pornography trial in Chicago, in which he was acquitted of all charges. Kelly also faces outstanding criminal charges in both Cook County, Ill., where he was indicted by the state attorney in Feb. 2019 for aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four victims (three of them minors), and in Minnesota, where Mr. Kelly was charged in Aug. 2019 with engaging in prostitution with a minor.

Sentencing in New York is scheduled for May 4.

Bruce Springsteen to release ‘No Nukes’ concert film from 1979

Bruce Springsteen is set to release a concert film and album regarding his 1979 ‘No Nukes’ concerts with the E Street Band that took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The film will be released digitally on Nov. 16, with physical editions also containing the album coming Nov. 19.

The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts will contain ten never-before released performances from the concerts and full footage of Springsteen and the E Street Band’s entire setlist. Springsteen uploaded a trailer for the film featuring archival footage from the concerts in high definition.

Longtime Springsteen editor Thom Zimny says in a statement: “A few years ago, I started re-examining the filmed archives for Bruce and the Band’s appearances at the No Nukes concerts of 1979. I quickly realized that these were the best performances and best filming from the band’s legendary ’70s, and dedicated myself to bringing out the full potential of the footage. Having worked as Bruce’s principal director and editor for the last 20 years, I can say without reservation that this newly re-edited, re-mixed and restored 90-minute film is the gold standard for Bruce and the band live during one of their greatest creative periods.”

Tom Morello and Bring Me The Horizon team up on “Let’s Get The Party Started.”

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has teamed up Bring Me the Horizon on the new track “Let’s Get the Party Started,” the latest single from the Morello’s upcoming all-star LP ‘The Atlas Underground Fire’ due out Oct. 15.

Morello said of the collaboration in a statement: “Bring Me the Horizon is really the current standard-bearer of hard rock/metal today, and thank God for them for that. I had a couple of huge riffs and we just started mashing it up with [producer] Zakk Cervini, who has worked with them before. This song was written on three continents — Oli [Sykes] was in Brazil, Jordan [Fish] was in England, and then I was here in L.A. It was a real United Nations of metal coming together to produce this song, which really feels to me like it captures the angst and the frustration of the pandemic boiling over into an all-time mosh pit.”

Morello also dropped a lyric video for the track, which Morello adds features “one of my favorite guitar solos that I’ve played in quite a while,” Morello says. “I was really digging deep to make a solo as devastating as the track.”
